  • Ryokan Umibe no Kakure yu Seiryu
  • Recommendations for a couple's onsen trip to Izu?

My boyfriend and I want to go to Izu for a romantic onsen trip. We're looking for a ryokan that has either a private, reservable onsen (kashikiri-buro) or a room with a private open-air bath. We also want a place that serves amazing seafood. There are so many options that it's hard to choose. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Ryokan Umibe no Kakure yu Seiryu

2941 Nishina, Nishiizu-cho, Kamo-gun

  • A Haven of Heartfelt Hospitality

  • What impressed me the most at "Umibe no Kakureyu Seiryu" was the staff's heartwarming hospitality. From the moment they welcomed us upon arrival, through the detailed explanations during our meals, and right up to our departure, the service was consistently attentive and pleasant, always respecting our pace. It was a true embodiment of Japanese "omotenashi," allowing me to completely relax. Every single experience was wonderful—from watching the sunset from the private open-air bath in our room to savoring the delicious dried fish for breakfast. It was a truly restorative stay, and I would love to visit again.

  • An Extraordinary Getaway to the Sound of the Sea

  • If you're looking to spend a wonderful time with partner in Izu, I think "Seiryu, a hidden bath by the sea" is a great choice. What's particularly impressive is the view from the open-air bath in the guest room. With the ocean right in front of you, soaking in onsen(hot spring) while listening to the sound of the waves without being disturbed by anyone was an extraordinary and extremely relaxing experience. The food was kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )centered around fresh seafood, and each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. The staff's calm hospitality was also pleasant, and I was very satisfied with my entire stay.

  • A private bath on the beach with Breathtaking view

  • Located in Dogashima, Nishiizu. There is a small private bath with a natural onsen(hot spring) with a great view. It is located on the water's edge, so the sea is right in front of you. There are also rooms with an open-air bath from which you can enjoy Breathtaking view of Dogashima. The rooms are spacious as they are two adjoining rooms. Dinner is a creative Japanese kaiseki meal made with plenty of fresh seafood (spiny lobster, golden-eyed snapper, etc.) caught in Suruga Bay and Shimoda Port. Breakfast was also Japanese, featuring local Nishiizu cuisine.

Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu Hot Spring Ryokan

1017 Inatori Higashi-Izu-Machi

  • A Gourmet Experience That Lives Up to the Name

  • If you're looking for delicious seafood, then "Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu" is a sure choice. As the name suggests, the food was truly excellent, especially the whole braised golden-eyed snapper, a specialty of Inatori. The fresh sashimi and other dishes were all of high quality, and we were impressed. We had breakfast and dinner in a private room, which allowed us to maintain our privacy and enjoy our meals in comfort. Of course, the open-air bath in the room was also excellent, so if you're looking for both delicious food and onsen(hot spring) at a high level, this is a place we can truly recommend.

  • A Quiet, Comfortable Room with a Spectacular Private Onsen

  • Have you considered "Taberu Oyado Hamanoyu"? The most compelling feature of this inn is, without a doubt, the exceptional quality of the private open-air bath attached to the guest room. Facing the ocean, the view is absolutely superb, and it offers a perfectly quiet space for just the two of you. The cleanliness and comfort of the room were also impeccable, allowing me to truly relax during my stay. Of course, the seafood dinner was fresh and delicious, and I felt the overall quality of service was very high. While it may be a bit of a splurge, I can assure you it is well worth the price.

  • Guest rooms with seafood and open-air baths

  • This is an inn in Izu onsen(hot spring), located in Higashiizu, Shizuoka Prefecture. I was able to eat my fill of fresh seafood caught in the waters off the Tokai coast. There are two different types of open-air baths available for rent, as well as a private rock sauna. There are also rooms with their own open-air baths. The shared rooftop open-air bath overlooks the Pacific Ocean, so bathing at sunset is recommended.

Shimoda Central Hotel

Aitama 133-1

  • An Onsen Hotel Offering Respite in the Tranquility of the Countryside

  • For those traveling with a special companion, I would suggest that the Shimoda Central Hotel is a particularly fine choice. The private open-air bath in our room was fed by a free-flowing natural spring, allowing us the luxury of bathing at our leisure without any concern for privacy. Furthermore, the large public baths, both indoor and open-air, were enveloped in lush greenery and offered a profound sense of tranquility. The spaciousness of the tubs allowed for complete relaxation. The quality of the meals was impeccable, and the staff's thoughtful consideration for their guests was truly exceptional. This attention to detail provided a great sense of comfort and safety throughout our stay. I can recommend this establishment with the utmost confidence to anyone wishing to spend peaceful time immersed in nature.

  • Perfect for Those Who Prefer to Relax in Their Room

  • If you value privacy, I recommend Shimoda Central Hotel, which has rooms with open-air baths. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the amenities were great. The baths in the rooms 100% natural hot spring, so it was great to be able to bathe in onsen(hot spring) as many times as you like. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, featuring seafood from Izu. The golden-eyed snapper dish in particular left a lasting impression. If you value practicality, like enjoying a relaxing hot onsen(hot spring) and meal in your room, I think you'll be satisfied with your stay.

  • Recommended Izu accommodations for couples

  • There are rooms with gardens and open-air baths. The large public bath was very spacious with a high ceiling and glass walls, which gave it a sense of openness, brightness, and a great view. The open-air bath was also spacious. For dinner, we enjoyed colorful dishes made with an abundance of Izu seafood, including red snapper and spiny lobster. They also rent out stylish yukatas with various patterns. We enjoyed relaxing in the lounge, sipping coffee and looking at the view.

Meijikan

Toi 2849-3

  • A spacious and stylish room with a panoramic view of Suruga Bay

  • Ocean view rooms with a panoramic view of Suruga Bay. Spacious, based on Japanese-style rooms. Some rooms have an open-air bath, and there is also a private open-air bath with Breathtaking view view where you can soak in onsen(hot spring) while looking out at the sea. Meals feature Izu seafood such as abalone and golden-eyed snapper, and there is also a sweet buffet after the meal. Breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet style, so you can enjoy fish from the morning. Considering the size of the room and the food, I think this hotel offers excellent value for money.
