Edogawa Fireworks Festival (Tokyo)

Edogawa-ku Fireworks Festival
Date: First Saturday of August every year

The Edogawa Fireworks Festival is one of the two major fireworks festivals in Tokyo, along with the Sumida River Fireworks Festival. It can be seen from both Edogawa Ward on the west bank of the wide Edogawa River and Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture on the east side, and in the past it has attracted the most spectators of any fireworks festival in Japan. It is popular because each year, elaborate fireworks are launched one after another according to a different theme. The most spectacular of these is the opening, when about 1,000 fireworks are launched in a five-second period. There are plenty of viewing spots available, including areas around Shinozaki Park where you can enjoy the view at your leisure, as well as paid reserved seats.
