Hiraizumi has a wide variety of sights, starting with Chusonji Temple, and it is difficult to see them all. This is a tourist Ryokan (Japanese inn) located almost in the center of Oshu City. It takes about 15 minutes from Mizusawa to Hiraizumi on the JR Tohoku Main Line. The rooms are Japanese-style rooms with 6 to 8 tatami mats, which is enough for two people. There are accommodation plans that include meals, but I recommend choosing the plan that includes breakfast and enjoying Tohoku delicacies at a nearby restaurant for dinner.

I have stayed here before. The room was spacious and clean. The interior had a cute atmosphere. I stayed in a twin room, but it also had a unit bath, so I was able to relax without worrying. There was a shared jacuzzi with a view, which was nice. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the sweets were also delicious.

Although it is a little independent guest cottages from Hiraizumi, there are many types of hot springs, so it is a great place for hot spring lovers. I stayed here after sightseeing in Hiraizumi, but it was a surprisingly long walk to Chusonji Temple, and I was unexpectedly tired, so the hot springs were soothing. We also had meals in our room, so we could relax and enjoy our meals, which was great.

Mizusawa is the third station from JR Hiraizumi Station, and is conveniently located just a five-minute walk from the station. We recommend the overnight stay with breakfast plan. Enjoy Tohoku cuisine around the hotel in the city center the night before. The next morning, have a leisurely breakfast and take the JR train to Hiraizumi, and you'll arrive at Konjikido in the morning.

Although it is a little independent guest cottages from Hiraizumi, how about staying at the Shidotaira Onsen hotel "Teru Shidotaira"? It is about 50 minutes by car. You can enjoy three different hot springs within the hotel. The glass-walled Tenkawa-no-Yu bath, with a total volume of 25 meters, is a masterpiece.
