Suminoe Ryokan

This ryokan is in the center of Setoda in Hiroshima Prefecture. (I stayed there on a bike trip, though I was on a motorcycle, not bicycle.) It is somewhat pricey, but has a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff will guide you, and they let you store your bike under the eaves. There is a large public bath, which is perfect for soothing muscles after riding. On weekdays, they offer simple no‑meals plans at more affordable rates.

How about staying at this inn, which is located on Ikuchijima Island along the Shimanami Kaido, and is proud of its cuisine? It is a little independent guest cottages from the road, but you can also do some sightseeing on Ikuchijima Island and enjoy the seafood of the Seto Inland Sea. You can also relax your tired body after cycling in the large public bath. You can also feel the history of the building, which is over 100 years old.

A few years ago, I took a boat from Onomichi to Setoda on Ikuchijima Island and enjoyed cycling from there. This Ryokan (Japanese inn) has been used as a filming Ryokan (Japanese inn) for movies, but it's a down-to-earth inn with reasonable prices. The food, made with local seafood, was fresh and delicious. Ikuchijima has many attractions, including Kosanji Temple, the Hirayama Ikuo Museum of Art, and many mandarin orange orchards. It's an island where you can relax.
