This is a luxury Ryokan (Japanese inn) where you can experience the best of Japanese hospitality.
Rangetsu is Ryokan (Japanese inn) located near Arashiyama Station, just before crossing Togetsukyo Bridge. Once you cross the bridge, the streets get busy, but this area is relatively quiet, so it's recommended for those who want to avoid crowded places. There are very few accommodations in Japan that are truly ryokans, but at Ryokan (Japanese inn) you can fully experience Kyoto hospitality. The most popular room is the "special room with open-air bath" on the first floor, so I highly recommend staying there. Although it is not a hot spring, the water is natural deep sea water of sodium carbonate that seeps out from Arashiyama, and it is said to have a strong warming effect and to have the effect of making your skin smooth.
