This is a hotel in Hakone that has been welcoming foreign guests for a long time.
We recommend the Fujiya Hotel in Miyanoshita. The main building, built in Japan's Meiji era (1891), was made to welcome guests from overseas, and is a classic hotel where Helen Keller, Charlie Chaplin, John Lennon and Yoko Ono have all stayed. The building, which combines Japanese and Western styles, is like a museum, and is a wonderful hotel that you will never find anywhere else. They have had many guests from overseas for a long time, so they are used to dealing with them. If you want to experience a Japanese atmosphere, we recommend staying at Hana Goten.

The First Resort Hotel in Japan, Established in 1878!
I highly recommend the Fujiya Hotel in Miyanoshita, Hakone! Built in Japan's Meiji era (1878), it was the first resort hotel to welcome guests from overseas, and has hosted guests such as Chaplin, Helen Keller, and John Lennon and his wife. The hotel has a strange, Japanese-Western fusion exterior, but it is one of Japan's finest classic hotels! Not only can you enjoy hot onsen(hot spring) baths, but all guestroom bathrooms are also fed by Miyanoshita onsen(hot spring), so you can even enjoy a onsen(hot spring) spring bath in your room! The hotel also houses a museum that reveals the history of the Fujiya Hotel, and a garden that recreates the scenery of the Japanese countryside. This is a hotel you'll want to stay at for more than just one or two nights.

A classic hotel you should stay at at least once if you go to Hakone
富士屋ホテルは Japan Classic Hotel Associationに入っているホテルで、箱根で休暇を過ごす外国人のために約150年前の1878年に建てられました。日本初の本格的なリゾートホテルということで、日本的な装飾やしつらえですが、館内のレストランでは本格的なフレンチが味わえます。本格的な日本料理や洋食レストランもあり、スパや館内には富士屋ホテルと箱根の発展に関する資料館もあったりと、ホテル内を探検するだけでも楽しく過ごせるホテルです。温泉は大浴場がありますが、お部屋のバスタブには温泉がひいてあるので、大浴場にいかなくても温泉に入れます！

It was like staying in a museum!
I've only stayed at Fujiya Hotel once, but all the buildings were so beautiful that it felt like I was staying in a museum. I enjoyed my stay by strolling through the Japanese garden and looking around the area displaying the hotel's historical materials. It's amazing that Charlie Chaplin and Helen Keller stayed here too. During your stay, be sure to try the traditional Fujiya Hotel flavor, "Beef Curry," at Restaurant Cascade. They also cater for vegan meals, so please ask if you would like one.

If you're looking for a luxury hotel in Hakone, try Fujiya Hotel!
It was closed for about three years, but has reopened with the same atmosphere as when it was first built. There are four accommodation buildings, but the Western-style building built in the Meiji period is very nice, as it gives off the atmosphere of a wooden Western-style building from the Meiji period. It is especially recommended for wedding anniversaries! I stayed here about 20 years ago, and the bathroom was boring, with just a bathtub, but now all the rooms are very nice. As for meals, the main dining room is quite expensive, but the curry at Restaurant Cascade is delicious and easy to eat, so be sure to try it for lunch!
