Become One with the Ocean at this Sea-Level Infinity Onsen
The infinity onsen at Harumi is called "Shiosai no Yu" (The Sound of the Tides), and it truly lives up to its name. It’s a stunning onsen experience that makes you feel like you're literally bathing in the ocean itself. Located right at sea level, the surface of the onsen seems to merge seamlessly with the waters of Beppu Bay. There's absolutely nothing to obstruct your view. The time I spent soaking in the bath, gazing out at nothing but the vast sky and the calm sea, was the ultimate detox for my soul. I highly recommend going at dusk—the way the colors of the sky constantly shift is breathtaking. The only sound is the gentle lapping of the waves. It's a wonderful place to truly and deeply relax.
