I recommend Umeda over Tennoji.
The Kintetsu Minami Osaka Line to Fujiidera has a terminal at Tennoji, but there aren't many hotels and it's not a very nice place (though it is Osaka-like). If you have children, I think Umeda is better. It depends on where you're going, but the Landmark Hotel is just north of Osaka Station and close to the airport bus terminal, so it's convenient. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there is everything around, so you won't have any trouble finding food. Tennoji is about 15 minutes by JR or subway.
