  • Maple Arima
  • Want to travel on a budget! Any Arima Onsen ryokan under 15,000 JPY per person (for two people)?

I'm planning a trip to Arima Onsen with a friend (two of us total). We're trying to travel affordably, so we're looking for a ryokan that costs under 15,000 JPY per person, per night, when booking for two.

Maple Arima

Kita-ku Arima-cho 406-3

  • A "Peace of Mind" Choice: Clean, Comfortable, and Reliable

  • If you're staying with a friend (just the two of you), I think "Maple Arima" is a great choice. A really nice plus is that it's relatively new and feels very clean and fresh. That "feeling of cleanliness" (seiketsukan) is a big deal and very reassuring. Here’s a practical tip: If you're aiming for a budget under 15,000 JPY per night, I recommend getting the "breakfast included" plan and just eating dinner out. It's in a super convenient location—only about a 10-minute walk from Arima Onsen Station, which is perfect for strolling around the onsen town. The onsen (public bath) is also spacious and really comfortable. If you prioritize a good balance of comfort and price over pure luxury, this is the perfect fit.

  • The Main Attraction? Its Incredibly Spacious Bath!

  • It’s a "room-only" (no meals) plan, but if you're looking for good value in Arima Onsen, you should definitely check out "Maple Arima." Here’s the key point: It doesn't use the famous brown "Kinsen" (Gold Spring). Instead, it has its own private spring source (jika gensen) of the clear "Radium Ginsen" (Silver Spring). And let me tell you, this water feels amazing! The main public bath (daiyokujo) is so spacious, and they also have a rotenburo (open-air bath) and a sauna. You'll be completely satisfied just from the bathing experience alone. It's the perfect setup for a travel style where you spend the day doing tabe-aruki (snacking and walking) in the onsen town, and then return at night to soak away your fatigue in that huge, relaxing bath.

  • The Smart Way to Enjoy Arima: Go for the "Room-Only" Plan

  • If you're looking to stay in Arima Onsen for under 15,000 JPY, how about the "sudomari" (room-only, no meals) plan at Maple Arima? The location is great—only about a 10-minute walk from Arima Onsen Station. You can drop your bags and head right out to explore the onsen town. For dinner, the onsen town has tons of delicious restaurants, so eating out is cheaper and way more fun because you can just pick whatever you want. The hotel itself has a big public bath and a rotenburo (open-air bath), so you can still fully enjoy Arima's clear "Ginsen" (Radium Silver Spring) water. It's the perfect inn for anyone who wants the full onsen experience but also wants to be smart about saving money on their stay.

  • Enjoy the wide variety of baths

  • This inn has a large indoor bath, a reclining Lying-down bath, a jacuzzi bath, a sauna, and many other types of baths, so you can really enjoy the hot springs to the fullest. There are Japanese-style and Western-style rooms, so you can choose whether you prefer beds or futons.

Kamiobo Ryokan

1175, Arima-cho, Kita-ku

  • An Absolute "Must" if You Prioritize the Quality of the Onsen Water

  • "Kami-Daibo" is an inn I highly recommend for its outstanding value. Now, this is not a luxury hotel. However, the quality of its "Kinsen" (Gold Spring) water—the most important thing in Arima Onsen—is simply the best. It draws its water from a spot right next to the famous "Tenjin Gensen" source, so the water is exceptionally fresh. The opportunity to soak in the "transparent Kinsen," which is the color of the water before it hits the air and oxidizes, is incredibly rare, even in Arima. And of course, it is 100% gensen kakenagashi (free-flowing directly from the source). Here's the practical tip: If you're aiming for a budget under 15,000 JPY, the "breakfast included" plan is the sweet spot. If you want to genuinely savor authentic hot spring water, I truly cannot recommend this place enough.

  • Right in the Heart of the Action: Perfect for Street Food & Exploring

  • If you're looking for a great value stay in Arima, "Kami-Daibo" is a must-check. It's located right in the middle of the atmospheric "Yumotozaka" street. This means the moment you step outside, you're instantly in the onsen town. It's super convenient for tabe-aruki (snacking and walking) and souvenir hunting. To stick to your budget, the "sudomari" (room-only, no meals) plan is the sure bet. Besides, hunting for a great restaurant in the onsen town for dinner is part of the fun! And don't worry, you still get the full onsen experience: the inn’s bath has Arima's famous "Kinsen" (Gold Spring), flowing 100% direct from the source (gensen kakenagashi). It's the perfect setup for a trip for two where you want to max out on both sightseeing and onsen time, all on a smart budget.

  • This is a place where the breakfast is delicious

  • Although it is a little small, it is perfect for enjoying Arima Onsen town. For dinner, you can walk around the hot spring town and enjoy Visiting hot springs. The bath at the inn is also a hot spring source, so you can take a luxurious and relaxing bath. The rooms are small and Japanese-style, and are a relaxing space.

Ryokan Arima Gyoen

1296, Arima-cho, Kita-ku

  • Incredibly Convenient: A Station-Side Base for Exploring the Onsen Town

  • If you're looking for good value (cospa) and convenience in Arima Onsen, "Arima Gyoen" is an excellent option. The location is unbeatable: it's only about a 2-3 minute walk from the Arima Onsen station or bus stop. This makes it incredibly practical; you can drop off your luggage and immediately head out to stroll the town or go tabe-aruki (snacking and walking). To stay under 15,000 JPY, the "sudomari" (room-only, no meals) plan is the way to go. And you're not compromising on the main event: the inn’s onsen has both the "Kinsen" (Gold Spring) and "Ginsen" (Silver Spring), so you can still fully enjoy the hot spring experience. It’s a perfect fit for a pair of travelers who want to be active and explore.

  • A Rare Find: An Inn Where You Can Enjoy Both Kinsen & Ginsen!

  • When you come all the way to Arima Onsen, you definitely want to try both the "Kinsen" (Gold Spring) and "Ginsen" (Silver Spring), right? Well, "Arima Gyoen" is one of the very few inns in Arima that actually has large public baths for both! You get to enjoy the Kinsen (the brown water) in the main public bath (daiyokujo) and the Ginsen (the clear water) in the open-air bath (rotenburo). Here's the key tip: For a budget under 15,000 JPY, the "sweet spot" is either the sudomari (room-only) plan, or the "breakfast-only" plan where you eat dinner out in the onsen town. It's absolutely perfect for a trip for two who want to soak up the full onsen experience.

  • A great value accommodation plan with two hot springs

  • Arima Gyoen, where you can enjoy two types of hot springs, "Kinsen" and "Ginsen" also offers a very reasonable plan for a stay without meals, so you can freely plan your trip according to your needs. It is also conveniently located just a one-minute walk from Arima Onsen town.

  • Plenty of baths and reasonably priced

  • If you are thinking of staying in Arima Onsen, I recommend "Arima Kirari". This hotel has many open-air baths other than the large public bath, so you can enjoy the hot springs to your heart's content. The rooms have been renovated and are very clean and comfortable. There are plans that include breakfast for one night, so you can stay within your budget.

  • A place to stay in Arima Onsen for under 10,000 yen

  • This is a popular inn in Arima Onsen with a total of 37 rooms, where you can enjoy bathing in the onsen baths. This plan for a relaxing stay at Arima Onsen (without meals) will fit your budget. You can also enjoy the onsen baths in the open-air rooftop bath where you can look up at the shining starry sky, the Beitou stone bath that passes through precious stones designated as special natural monuments by the country, the spacious large communal bath that the inn is proud of, and Kinsen open-air bath that turns brown when exposed to air.

Arima Zuihoen

  • This is a lodging where you can stay at a reasonable price.

  • Arima Onsen is home to many high-end inns, but we recommend this reasonably priced inn. They offer budget plans starting from 6,000 yen for a one-night stay, so you'll fit within your desired 10,000 yen budget. You can enjoy Arima 's "Ginsen" simple radon spring water in the spacious public bath. Both the men's and women's baths utase-yu(a stream of hot water falling down on your shoulders like a small waterfall), bubble baths, saunas, and even a gazebo-style open-air bath. This is a highly recommended inn, with a full range of hot spring facilities, allowing you to enjoy high-quality water to your heart's content.
