  • Kinugawa Plaza Hotel
  • Kinugawa Onsen: Hotel with 100% source rotenburo (open-air bath)?

My spouse and I are planning a trip to Kinugawa Onsen, and we're specifically looking for an authentic onsen experience. We'd love to find a hotel or ryokan that offers a gensen kakenagashi (100% pure, free-flowing hot spring source) in an open-air bath (rotenburo). Any recommendations for places where we can enjoy this, ideally with nice views too? Thanks!

  • Kinugawa Plaza Hotel: Stunning Views & 100% Source Onsen (Including Private!)

  • Absolutely! For a fantastic gensen kakenagashi experience with great views in Kinugawa Onsen, I highly recommend the Kinugawa Plaza Hotel. This hotel boasts an incredible location, directly overlooking the breathtaking Kinugawa Gorge. They have special guest rooms called "Sui" which feature your own 100% pure, free-flowing private open-air bath (rotenburo). You can choose rooms facing either the mountain stream or the mountainside, both offering serene views. The hot spring water itself is a mild alkaline simple spring, known for being gentle on the skin. You can enjoy this wonderful onsen water not just in those private room baths, but also in their charming communal open-air baths and the spacious indoor public baths (daiyokujo). When it comes to dining, you're spoiled for choice! The Kinugawa Plaza Hotel has four different restaurants offering a variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes, all prepared using fresh, local ingredients.

  • We recommend the private open-air bath in independent guest cottages building!

  • The private open-air bath "Hanare no independent guest cottages" operated by this hotel, located a 10-minute drive away, is amazing. There are no buildings around, and the only sound you can hear is the murmuring of the river. It feels great to bathe in the hot spring while feeling nature.

  • There is an open-air bath with a beautiful view.

  • This hot spring inn stands on a huge rock along the Kinugawa River. Looking down from the window of your room is almost scary. The large hot spring bath and the open-air bath are connected. Of course, the water flows directly from the source. You can choose between Buffet or a Japanese kaiseki meal at the restaurant.

  • A hotel with an open-air bath with a 100% natural hot spring

  • This is a popular, long-established hotel that represents Kinugawa Onsen. It has a full range of facilities, including hot spring facilities. Not only does it have an open-air bath with a great view of 100% natural hot spring, but it also has an indoor bath and sauna. It has just been renovated, so it is clean and stylish. There are also many private baths.
