  • Recommended Hakone trip: Hot spring inns with views of Mt. Fuji

We are going on a trip to Hakone in the spring with our family of four, including two children. Is there a hotel or Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Hakone with a good view of Mt. Fuji and a hot spring? It would be even better if there was a private bath for the whole family.

  • If you have a room with an open-air bath, you can use it with just your family.

  • This inn offers a private onsen(hot spring) overlooking Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji, so you and your family can have Breathtaking view and onsen(hot spring) all to yourself. The guest rooms are clean Japanese-style rooms, and even children who are not used to tatami mats will find just lying down on them a refreshing experience. The Japanese gardens are also worth seeing, and just walking around the hotel will create many memories. The monthly changing kaiseki cuisine is so exciting just to look at, that I would like to visit in all seasons.

  • Purely Japanese architecture leaves lasting memories

  • This inn is built in a purely Japanese Sukiya style, and the building alone is enough to make it a tourist attraction in Japan. Most of the rooms have tatami mats, but there are also rooms with beds and a modern Japanese interior. Each room has its own unique charm, so you can have fun choosing the room you want. If you have small children, a room with futons instead of beds would be safer as there would be no difference in height!

  • A traditional Japanese Ryokan (Japanese inn) in the Sukiya style

  • This traditional Japanese ryokan (Japanese Ryokan (Japanese inn) features a unique open-air bath with a sukiya-style design. It overlooks Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi. While private baths are available, if you have small children, we recommend a room with an open-air bath. There's also a courtyard with a great view. They offer a wide selection of children's amenities, including jinbei (bamboo skirts) and geta (wooden sandals). The meals are also prepared in the room, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely meal without worrying about others. The hotel is also conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Lake Ashi sightseeing boat dock, a 9-minute walk from Lake Ashi, and within a 15-minute walk of Onshi Hakone Park, making it a great base for sightseeing in Hakone.

  • Feel the homely hospitality

  • It is located on a hill on the shore of Lake Ashi. It is a wonderful Hakone Ryokan (Japanese inn) where you can feel the warm hospitality of the staff. We had meals in our room. The Kyoto-style kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )was very carefully prepared, looked gorgeous, and tasted delicious. We were able to spend a relaxing time with a view of Mt. Fuji. The free private bath was spacious and relaxing.

  • There is a spacious private bath where you can relax.

  • I stayed here with my family. Ryokan (Japanese inn) 's homey atmosphere, onsen(hot spring), and food were all excellent. There were rooms with different styles of open-air baths. The rooms were spacious and relaxing, and we could see Mt. Fuji. There were also plenty of amenities for children. There was a large communal bath with an open-air bath and a private bath. The private bath was spacious and free to use, which was great.

  • A recommended Ryokan (Japanese inn) to stay at when touring the three shrines of Hakone

  • I stayed here while touring Hakone's three major sacred places: Hakone Shrine, Kuzuryu Shrine, and Hakone Motomiya. The room was a spacious Japanese-style room on the first floor, with a view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji. The view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi from the open-air bath in the main building was so amazing that I wanted to stay in it forever. The indoor bath was also spacious and had a great view. However, the last bath in the main building is at 7pm, so I wanted to try using it after dinner. The indoor baths for guests can be used to relax in Takogawa Onsen until early in the morning or late at night.

  • Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a panoramic view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji, close to Hakone-en

  • The hotel is located very conveniently next door to Hakone-en. We stayed in the annex, but the room was a spacious Japanese-style room with a panoramic view from a wall of windows. We were very satisfied with the panoramic view of Lake Ashi. It was also nice to be able to see Mt. Fuji from our room early in the morning. The bath in the main building offered Breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji. There are no private baths, but there are special rooms with indoor onsen(hot spring) baths. The meals were seasonal kaiseki cuisine for dinner and a Japanese set meal for breakfast, both of which were carefully prepared and delicious, leaving us full.

  • There is an infinity hot spring that seems to be integrated with Lake Ashi.

  • This is a purely Japanese-style inn in Hakone. Every room offers a panoramic view of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashi! There are no private baths, but both the main building and the annex have onsen(hot spring). I recommend the open-air bath in the main building, which is an infinity onsen(hot spring) with a Breathtaking view view that seems to merge with Lake Ashi. The annex only has an indoor bath, but you can relax in onsen(hot spring) while looking out at the Japanese garden. The inn can be reached directly from Odawara Station by a free shuttle bus exclusively for guests. Alternatively, take the express bus from Shinjuku, get off at "Hakone-en" and it's a 2-minute walk, making it convenient for those coming from the Tokyo metropolitan area.

  • Enjoy a relaxing time with your family in a room with an open-air bath

  • This inn does not have a private bath, but there are rooms with open-air baths, so we recommend using those. There are rooms with a private open-air bath with a view of Mt. Fuji, or a semi-open-air bath. Overall, all the rooms are spacious, so this inn is popular with families. Dinner is a Japanese and Western buffet, so it's nice that everyone can choose what they like to eat. The menu is wide, with options ranging from pizza and pasta to sushi and tempura. There is also a wide selection of desserts, so anyone with a sweet tooth will surely be pleased!

  • The view of Mt. Fuji from the open-air bath is amazing!

  • You can enjoy a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji from the open-air bath. There is a slight difference in the view between the men's and women's baths, but neither is inferior and each has its own unique look. There are also private baths, so you can bathe without worrying about others. You can also see Mt. Fuji from the guest rooms, so the whole family can enjoy the view. Many Japanese hotels have small rooms, but this one is spacious, so you can relax and unwind even on a family trip.

  • I could see the Hakone mountains and Mt. Fuji.

  • We were able to relax as a family in the private bath. We could even see Mt. Fuji from our room. It's close to the famous Owakudani Valley, making it a convenient location for sightseeing in Hakone. Rental amenities and meals for children are also provided, making it a safe hotel for families with children. There's also table tennis, karaoke, and a convenience store, so we enjoyed the facilities.

  • A Hakone hotel where you can enjoy two types of hot spring water

  • This Hakone hotel offers two types of onsen(hot spring) water. You can enjoy the "simple spring" from the hotel's underground source and the "sulfur spring" drawn from Owakudani in the large public bath and private bath. The private bath was a small indoor bath, but there are four baths available free of charge to guests and they are open 24 hours a day, so you can relax without any worries. The room had large windows, offering a wonderful view of the Hakone mountain range and Mount Fuji. There are no restaurants around the hotel, so we recommend the plan that includes dinner.

  • Family trip at a resort-like hotel

  • This luxurious hotel offers views of Mt. Fuji. A five-minute walk from the hotel will take you to the sightseeing boat and ropeway stations, so you can enjoy relaxing activities. There are plenty of nearby attractions, including shrines, making it a convenient area for sightseeing with children. While there are no private baths available, the large public bath is quite spacious, so you won't feel cramped.
