• We recommend the Asahikawa Winter Festival, one of Hokkaido 's three major winter festivals. It takes place in mid-February, and the park where the festival is held is within easy walking or taxi distance from the inn. The large hot spring bath is open until late, so even those with children who are unsure of what time to go will be able to enjoy a bath! In addition to restaurants and bars, the hotel also has an izakaya. As its name "Akachouchin" suggests, it is a very Japanese izakaya. Breakfast is served buffet style, so you can eat whatever you like, ensuring the whole family will be satisfied. There are some surprising menu items, such as ramen.

• When you think of snow festivals in Hokkaido, the Sapporo Snow Festival is the one to go to! The recommended accommodation is a business hotel with a hot spring, located about a 5-minute walk from Odori Station or Susukino Station. You can also take the limousine bus from New Chitose Airport to Susukino, so it's very accessible. For breakfast, I had a seafood bowl that you could arrange however you like. There were also many other menu items that were unique to Hokkaido, which I enjoyed. In addition to the large public bath, there is a cypress bath and a tub bath. It is a chain hotel with locations nationwide, so the prices are relatively low, the breakfast is delicious, and the rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced.

It's right near Odori Station, and it's conveniently close to the festival site. There was a large public bath, so I was able to relax. The welcome aroma, which isn't often found in hotels, was very pleasant and helped me relax. The room was also modern and clean. The Japanese and Western Buffet was healthy and had a decent selection, so I was satisfied.

• The highlight of the trip was the ice festival "Chitose Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival," which made use of the bitterly cold climate of Lake Shikotsu. There were ice sculptures of all sizes. They shone a beautiful blue during the day, and were lit up in various colors at night, which was very beautiful. This inn is located next to Lake Shikotsu, and it is convenient to use the free shuttle service from Chitose Station once a day by reservation. We were able to enjoy Lake Shikotsu hot springs in the private open-air bath and large bath. The open-air bath while watching the snow is the best. The natural view from the terrace lounge was also nice. We were able to spend a luxurious time in the guest room with an open-air garden bath.

• I recommend the Ice Waterfall Festival and Sounkyo Onsen. This ice event takes place on the riverbed of the Ishikari River, and the ice sculptures made using the natural features of the deep gorge at the foot of Mount Daisetsu are spectacular. This hotel is located on a hill about a 10-minute walk from the venue. There are three large baths and two open-air baths, each with its own unique characteristics and great views. The view of the mountains from the observation bath was particularly spectacular. There is also a picture book and encyclopedia corner and a shop, so even small children can enjoy themselves. The meals are Buffet for breakfast and dinner, with a selection of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes, mainly made with ingredients from Hokkaido. The presentation was Breathtaking view, there was a wide variety, and everything was freshly cooked in the open kitchen and delicious.
