  • Recommended hot spring inns and events in Hokkaido in winter

I want to take my small children to Hokkaido in January or February to see the snow and ice. I would like to know recommended events and accommodations in the area during that time. I would also like to go to a hot spring, so it would be nice to stay at an accommodation with a hot spring.

  • A winter event with a quintessentially Japanese landscape

  • This inn, located on the banks of the Jozankei River, is located near the spot where Yuki Touro 2025 will be held. Ryokan (Japanese inn) is built in Japanese style, so it's perfect for sightseeing in Japan, and there are many spaces filled with attention to detail inside, such as an open-air bath surrounded by old trees. The first event mentioned, Yuki Touro 2025, is an installation event set in the snowy Jozankei Shrine, and is a winter event where you can enjoy warm Japanese-style lighting.

  • Enjoy the "Snow Lantern Path" in Jozankei Onsen Town

  • The "Snow Lantern Festival" held at Jozankei Shrine in Jozankei Onsen town from late January to early February was very romantic. The Ryokan (Japanese inn) we stayed at was a little old in Jozankei Onsen. But the room was clean and the building had a warm atmosphere, and we enjoyed the hot springs and the food. The hot springs had a variety of baths, including a stone bath and a tile bath, so we enjoyed Visiting hot springs in them. There is also a private bath, so you can take your time with your children. For dinner, we had a Japanese kaiseki meal, and the grilled wagyu beef and sashimi presentation was delicious. The Japanese breakfast Buffet also had many healthy options, such as local vegetables and freshly baked bread.
