  • [Japan's World Heritage Site] Recommended accommodations for visiting the Kumano Kodo trail

married couple in our 50s who want to go to the Kumano Kodo trail in the fall. Can you recommend a nice inn with a hot spring? The price should be around 30,000 yen for one night with two meals.

  • A lodging with convenient access to the Kumano Kodo trail.

  • There is a shuttle bus from JR Shirahama Station, so it is also convenient to access by train. The rooms are generally spacious and well-furnished, making it perfect for large groups. The hot spring is a free-flowing natural hot spring, and there is also a private open-air bath. The hotel is surrounded by the Kii Mountains, so you can enjoy nature while bathing. The food is made with local ingredients, such as Kumano beef. In the lounge, you can enjoy coffee brewed in the hot spring water, making this an inn that pays attention to even the smallest details. The hotel is also close to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, making it a great place for sightseeing along the Kumano Kodo trail.

  • There is a large open-air bath and a wide selection of Japanese cuisine.

  • If you want to use it as a base for the Kumano Kodo trail, how about Hotel Sasayuri in Watarase Onsen, which has a large open-air bath? The rooms and baths are spacious, so you can relax and unwind. The food is Japanese, with plenty of dishes made with seasonal ingredients from the mountains and the sea. The breakfast was also delicious, with so many dishes that I couldn't finish it all.
