  • Hotel New Otani Osaka
  • Recommended cherry blossom festivals and nearby accommodations

I'm planning a cherry blossom viewing trip with friends in April. I live in Tokyo, but can you tell me recommended cherry blossom festivals outside of Tokyo and accommodations in the surrounding area? I'd also like to know if there are any other recommended spots besides cherry blossoms.

Hotel New Otani Osaka

1-4-1 Shiromi, Chuo-ku

  • Enjoy the view of Osaka Castle and cherry blossoms from your room

  • The Spring Festival at Osaka Castle Park is very lively, and the collaboration between Osaka Castle and the cherry blossoms is very beautiful. The park is a popular cherry blossom spot, with about 3,000 cherry trees in full bloom. "Hotel New Otani Osaka" is very close to Osaka Castle Park, about a 3-minute walk away. There are also rooms with a view of Osaka Castle. At night, the illuminated Osaka Castle and cherry blossoms were a wonderful sight. Osaka has many popular spots, but we also recommend taking the "Osaka Water Bus" to tour the rivers and bay area and enjoy a different view from the usual.

Azuma Ryokan

Otazukimichishita 7115

  • Enjoy Fukushima's Kitakata Sakura Festival and Kitakata Ramen

  • I recommend the Kitakata Sakura Festival in Fukushima Prefecture. The weeping cherry blossoms on the Nicchu Line Memorial Bicycle and Pedestrian Path near JR Kitakata Station were very beautiful. The weeping cherry blossoms bloomed on the promenade, and a steam locomotive that ran at the time was on display along the way, making it a popular spot for taking photos of the steam locomotive and cherry blossoms. For a limited time, some sections were lit up, so you could enjoy the cherry blossoms at night. This Ryokan (Japanese inn) is about a 15-minute walk from Kitakata Station. It is a homely Ryokan (Japanese inn) that gives you a taste of old Japan. There was a small cypress indoor bath with a small garden, which was relaxing. The room was spacious and a beautiful Japanese-style room. The homemade breakfast menu was healthy and delicious. There are many restaurants such as izakayas in the area. Kitakata is also famous for its delicious ramen, and there are many famous ramen restaurants near the inn, so it is recommended for ramen lovers as well.

Komoro Grand Castle Hotel

Kojo 1-1-5

  • Hotels near the station and Komoro Castle Ruins and Kaikoen Garden

  • Komoro Castle Kaikoen in Nagano Prefecture is a popular cherry blossom spot that has been selected as one of the "100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." The Cherry Blossom Festival is held in April, when about 500 cherry trees are in full bloom. There were various events such as concerts and photo contests. At night, we enjoyed the illuminated cherry blossoms. The hotel is close to Komoro Station and Komoro Castle Kaikoen is just a short walk away, so the location is good. You can soak in Komoro Onsen while looking out at the Shinshu mountains. Although it is an old building, it was well-cleaned and we had a comfortable stay. There was also a ping pong table and a shop inside the building. The food was Buffet, and we enjoyed the ample portions and variety.

Hotel Route Inn Kyoto Kameoka Ekimae

1-6-1 Kyoto Kameoka Station north, Kameoka-shi, 621-0807

  • Cherry blossom viewing along the cherry blossom lined streets of Kameoka, Kyoto

  • During the "Kameoka Sakura Week" in Kyoto, you can take a walk under a row of 1,500 cherry trees. You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll while looking at the cherry blossoms in the adjacent park, and you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing in various places in Kameoka city. The event is lively with booths and food trucks lined up. During the period, the area is lit up, so you can enjoy the cherry blossoms at night. Other recommended spots besides the cherry blossoms are the "Izumo Daijingu Shrine" which is said to bring good fortune, and the "Oishi Sake Brewery Sake no Yakata" where you can tour the sake brewery and sample sake. The Japanese garden of "Ano-ji Temple" is designated as a scenic spot in Kyoto Prefecture, and it is a magnificent temple that is worth seeing. The hotel is located very close to Kameoka Station, making it easy to get around. There is almost nothing around, so it is quiet. The room had a chic and calm atmosphere, and was spacious, which was nice. There was also a large, clean public bath, so you could take a bath freely from early morning until late at night and relax. Buffet breakfast had a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes.
