  • married couple and I are going to visit Hakone Shrine and Lake Ashi Onsen during Golden Week. Which hotel has the best open-air baths?

During Golden Week, married couple and I are planning to take a one-night trip to Lake Ashi Onsen in Kanagawa Prefecture. We would like to visit Hakone Shrine, one of sacred places in the Kanto region, and relax in the hot springs. Since it's the season of fresh greenery, we'd like to enjoy the open-air baths!

Washintei Hougetu

90-42 Motohakone, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun

  • There is an open-air bath where you can enjoy the view of fresh greenery.

  • How about Washintei Hogetsu? There is an open-air bath where you can enjoy the view of fresh greenery. The location is convenient as there is a shuttle from Motohakone bus stop. The bath is a simple sulfur spring, which is expected to have the effect of relieving fatigue and promoting health. The meal is a kaiseki meal of seafood and mountain delicacies, which is a feast for the eyes as well as the tongue.

  • This is a recommended inn in Hakone Lake Ashinoko Onsen that offers meals and an open-air bath.

  • This inn is built on a quiet hilltop overlooking Lake Ashi. You can enjoy the free-flowing simple sulfur spring water in the inn's long-loved open-air cypress bath "Deaizuki" and in the large bath made of blue stone. For an additional fee, you can receive beauty treatments that are great for women. As for food, you can enjoy the inn's special "modern kaiseki" cuisine, which is carefully prepared in terms of presentation and tableware.

  • The rooms were recently renovated this year and are very clean.

  • This is a luxury inn in Lake Ashi Onsen, located just east of Hakone Shrine. It is a small, long-established luxury inn, and the interior and rooms were just renovated this year and are very clean. You can spend a luxurious time in a modern room with a view of Lake Ashi below. There is also an open-air bath in the garden with natural hot spring water, and the kaiseki cuisine was beautifully presented and elaborately prepared, making it exquisite.

Hotel Shiki no Yakata Hakone Ashinoko

103-241 Motohakone, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun

  • All 30 rooms have an open-air bath and overlook Lake Ashi!

  • The large indoor bath with simple sulfur spring water and the vast open-air bath offer a panoramic view of Lake Ashi. There is also a dry sauna on site. The open-air baths in each of the 30 rooms are made of either cypress or ceramic and are filled with the same simple sulfur spring water as the large bath. For meals, you can enjoy authentic French cuisine, either kaiseki French or creative French. The hotel also has a beauty salon. There is also the Goma Art Museum, where you can see over 100 paintings, especially Japanese paintings, which will provide a great way to relax along with the hot springs. Prices vary depending on the room.

  • A hotel that boasts a lake view and an open-air bath with a beautiful landscape

  • All 30 guest rooms have an open-air bath and a wonderful view overlooking Lake Ashi. You can enjoy authentic Japanese banquet cuisine. The interior of the building has a purely Japanese atmosphere and a luxurious feel. We recommend starting from here and taking a walk around Lake Ashi in the morning. This is Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Ashinomaki Onsen that boasts a lake view.

Odakyu Hotel de Yama Hakone Lake Side

80 Moto-Hakone, Hakone-machi, Ashigara-shimo-gun

  • An inn where you can see Lake Ashi from your room

  • The rooms overlook Lake Ashi, allowing married couple to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. For dinner, you can choose between an authentic French course meal or a Japanese kaiseki meal. The hot spring is an alkaline simple spring that has a skin-beautifying effect, leaving your skin smooth and silky, which is great for women. There is a spacious large communal bath and an open-air bath, where you can stretch your legs and relax. There is also a sauna, so you can soothe the fatigue of your trip.
