I'm planning to spend the New Year's holiday with a friend at Lake Ashinoko Onsen in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. Hakone Shrine, perfect for a first shrine visit of the year, is nearby, so I'd like to enjoy the hot spring waters of Lake Ashinoko to the fullest. Can you recommend any lodgings with outdoor baths?

- This is a long-established Japanese-style luxury inn in Lake Ashi Onsen. There is a large and beautiful open-air garden bath. I was soaking in the bath that I lost track of time and it was very relaxing. The food was an elaborate and beautifully presented kaiseki（a traditional Japanese multiple course meal ）, made with carefully selected seasonal ingredients and was incredibly delicious.
