  • I want to visit Yamaguchi City, which was featured in The New York Times' "52 Places to Go in 2024"

I'd like to visit Yamaguchi City, which was featured in The New York Times' "52 Places to Go in 2024." I'd also like to see the five-story pagoda at Rurikoji Temple, which is currently under renovation. This is my first time in Yamaguchi Prefecture, so I'd like some advice on other tourist spots. Could you please recommend some tourist spots and hotels?

  • This inn still has onsen(hot spring) that Ryoma Sakamoto once bathed in.

  • If you're looking for a trip that touches history, we recommend Matsudaya Hotel, which was founded over 340 years ago. This historic place is where Sakamoto Ryoma, Saigo Takamori, and others gathered at the end of the Edo period to discuss Japan's future. The bathhouse where Sakamoto Ryoma and his friends are said to have bathed, Ishin no Yu, still exists and is open to the public. The atmosphere of the inn is also outstanding, allowing you to feel the atmosphere of the Edo period.
