  • Where to Stay in Shirakawa-go? From Gassho-style Inns to Hotels with Hot Springs

Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many people visit this charming village of Gassho-style houses on a day trip, but staying overnight offers a fantastic view that is different from the daytime. This time, I'm looking for hotels and Ryokan (Japanese inn) in the Shirakawa-go area. I'd like to know your recommendations for accommodations, from Gassho-style guesthouses to hotels with hot springs where you can relax.

  • Enjoy gourmet food at one of Shirakawa-go's leading Ryokan (Japanese inn)

  • If you want to enjoy a warm meal that is unique to Shirakawa-go, we recommend Shiroyamakan. As a ryokan Ryokan (Japanese inn), you can savor some of Shirakawa-go's best cuisine, including river fish, fresh locally harvested mountain vegetables, and local brand beef. The fact that it is limited to four groups per day gives it a premium feel.

  • Accommodation near an observation deck overlooking Shirakawa-go

  • Shiroyamakan is a historic Ryokan (Japanese inn) located near the Shiroyama Castle Tower Observatory, which offers a panoramic view of Shirakawa-go. Therefore, the greatest privilege is being able to leisurely enjoy Breathtaking view from the observation deck in the early morning or at dusk, when there are no tourists around. The baths are made of Kiso cypress and use spring water, and can be reserved for private use in each room.
