What hotels in Shiga are recommended? I'd love to know why!
I'm planning a trip to Japan and will be staying in Kyoto. I've heard Shiga is a great place, especially for families with children. I'm having trouble figuring out where to stay. Can you recommend a hotel in the Lake Biwa area? I'd love to hear what makes the hotel special, as well as some local insights and tips!

- Lake Biwa Hotel is highly recommended for families. The best part is that all rooms have balconies overlooking Lake Biwa. It's really nice to step out onto the balcony in the morning and feel the breeze off Lake Biwa. If you have small children, it's safer to choose a Japanese-style room or Japanese and Western room style room where you can take off your shoes and relax. My child loved rolling around on the tatami mats. For meals, I recommend the buffet restaurant. It was great that the whole family could enjoy a meal while enjoying the view.KMizuho (Early 40s Female)'s answer (Posted on:2025/8/ 2)

The natural onsen(hot spring) and balcony are the best
- Lake Biwa Hotel is very convenient. It's only about a 10-minute train ride from JR Kyoto Station, and once you arrive at Otsu Station, it's a short ride on the free shuttle bus. The best thing about this hotel is the large natural onsen(hot spring) bath. After walking around Kyoto, it's great to relax in the open-air bath while looking out at Lake Biwa. All rooms have a balcony with a view of Lake Biwa. The kids loved watching the boats from the balcony. It's an easy-to-access hotel that's relaxing for both adults and children.MasaK (Late 40s Male)'s answer (Posted on:2025/8/ 2)
