We’re biking across the Shimanami Kaidō over 2 nights and 3 days — which hotels are best to stay at-mid route?
My friends and I (a group of four) are planning a cycling trip along the Shimanami Kaido. We’re giving ourselves three days and two nights so we can take it slow and enjoy sightseeing along the route. We'd love some recommendations on where to stay overnight. Are there any hotels you’d recommend for cyclists? We haven’t decided whether to start from Imabari or Onomichi yet — we’re thinking of choosing based on which accommodations are available. If you’ve done this route before, we’d really appreciate your tips!

- This hotel is only two minutes’ walk from JR Onomichi Station, which makes it ideal both for touring Onomichi and as a starting/ending point for Shimanami Kaidōcycling. In summer they have plans with dinner & breakfast via a beer hall, and there is also a late‑check‑out plan (until 1 PM), so it’s perfect for resting after a long ride. They have rooms that accommodate four people, making it a good choice for group trips or friends travelling together. OnsenDaisuki's answer (Posted on:2025/9/17)

A hotel at the starting point of the Shimanami Kaido
- This hotel is located in front of Onomichi Station, the starting point of the Shimanami Kaido. The location is excellent, facing the sea, and the view from the ocean side is especially spectacular. Onomichi is also famous as a film town and is often used as a filming location, so it's a good idea to take a stroll around the city. The food is also delicious.キングコング's answer (Posted on:2016/7/ 9)
Two minutes on foot from Onomichi Station — great for both Shimanami cycling and exploring Onomichi
