Matsumoto Hotel Kagetsu is a historic hotel in Nagano Prefecture with over 130 years of history. The hotel's interior is adorned with numerous local crafts nurtured in Matsumoto City, making it feel like a beautiful art museum. Just by walking around, you can experience traditional Japanese craftsmanship. While it's not a hot spring, you can soak in a large public bath with water gentle on the skin, selected as one of Japan's famous waters. A classic hotel founded in 1887
This long-established hotel was founded in 1887, and is popular for its retro-modern atmosphere, with many pieces of Matsumoto folk furniture displayed throughout the building. It has been featured on social media and in the media, and has recently attracted many foreign guests. While it is not onsen(hot spring), it does have a large public bath that uses boiled underground water that is gentle on the skin. Matsumoto Castle is also just a five-minute walk away, making it a convenient spot for a visit.

A stylish hotel with an old-fashioned Meiji-era exterior and Matsumoto furniture
The hotel has a Western-style exterior, but with a Japanese feel, such as the lobby filled with historic Matsumoto furniture and the large wooden washbasin in the bathroom. The hotel is surrounded by streets that still retain the atmosphere of the Meiji era, with Matsumoto Castle just a five-minute walk from the hotel and Kaichi School, which opened in the Meiji era, just beyond that, giving the hotel an atmosphere reminiscent of Japan's old days. A short walk away is the newer shopping street, where you can enjoy the old and new townscapes.
