  • Mikiya Ryokan
  • Can you recommend any lodgings outside of the Kanto region that are good for literature lovers?

Please tell me about lodgings outside of the Kanto region that are related to authors and literary works. I would like to go there with my boyfriend in the spring or summer. Please keep the price to less than 20,000 yen per night.

Mikiya Ryokan

487 Yushima, Kinosaki-cho, Toyooka

  • Hot springs associated with Naoya Shiga

  • Mikiya is Ryokan (Japanese inn) where Shiga Naoya stayed when he wrote "In Kinosaki". It is a recommended Ryokan (Japanese inn) with good hot springs, a classy and calm interior, and a literary atmosphere. Kinosaki is also home to many literary monuments, so you can take a literary walk around the outdoor Visiting hot springs and the monuments.

Iwaso Ryokan

Momijidani, Hatsukaichi-shi

  • A World Heritage site in Miyajima where many literary figures have stayed

  • I think it's a little over 20,000 yen per person per night, but why not make the effort? It's located in Momijidani, Miyajima. It's nice in autumn, but you can also enjoy the fresh greenery. If you're looking for a place to stay that has connections to authors and literary works, I think it will meet your needs. Examples of guests include Natsume Soseki, Takahama Kyoshi, Mori Ogai, Shimoda Utako, Saito Mokichi, Yoshikawa Eiji, Saijo Yaso, Ikenami Shotaro, Uno Chiyo, and Helen A. Keller. Do you have a favorite author? As you know, Miyajima is a land associated with the Heike clan, and when you think of the Heike clan, you think of The Tale of the Heike. It might be nice to reminisce about the Genpei period.
