  • Ginzan Onsen - I want to stay at a hot spring inn after skiing! Can you recommend an inn with a nice open-air bath?

This year I'm planning to go skiing in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. I'd like to stay overnight at the nearby Ginzan Onsen, but are there any inns with nice open-air baths? I'd like to warm up my cold body slowly after skiing.

Ginzanso

85 Ginzan Shinhata, Obanazawa-shi

  • A beautiful snow scene can be seen

  • We recommend "Ginzanso." The bath is connected to the open-air bath without leaving the indoor bath, so you don't have to worry about getting cold when moving between baths, even in winter. The open-air bath offers a beautiful view of the mountains, which will help you relax after skiing. You can also use the bedrock bath, which costs extra, so Ryokan (Japanese inn) can warm yourself up to the core.

  • An open-air bath with a spectacular snowy view

  • If you are looking for a nice inn with an open-air bath in Ginzan Onsen, I recommend "Ginzanso". The large open-air bath is surrounded by nature and has a great sense of openness. Looking at the snowy scenery and the stars in the clear sky while soaking in the hot water will quickly relieve your fatigue. You will definitely be very satisfied.

  • It will soothe your body that has gotten cold after skiing.

  • The open-air bath at Ginzanso is about half the size of a tennis court. At night, a soft night light is turned on, illuminating the steam. You can hear the murmuring of the river and the chirping of wild birds. The standard room is a 10-tatami Japanese-style room with a view of the Ginzan River below.

  • Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a large public bath, an open-air bath with a great view, and a reclining Lying-down bath

  • This Ryokan (Japanese inn) is a relatively new building in Ginzan Onsen, so it is very clean. The rooms with a semi-open-air bath are especially recommended. There is plenty of hot water, and in winter you can enjoy the snowy scenery outside while soaking in the open-air bath. For dinner, they serve local dishes including Yamagata beef, and the breakfast buffet is full of delicious dishes. It is about a 5-minute walk from the hot spring town, but for reference, my recommended places to stop by are "Tofuya" and "Kare Pan", which serve delicious yudofu. As it is located on a slight hill, the view from Ryokan (Japanese inn) rooms is good and the surroundings are quiet, so you will surely be very satisfied. There is also a bedrock bath and Lying-down bath, which are great for soothing your body.

The open-air bath where you can enjoy the colors of the four seasons is the pride of this inn, and it warms your mind and body and leaves you feeling indescribably refreshed.
