  • Yuzawa Grand Hotel
  • Yuzawa Onsen (Niigata) New Year's Trip. Best Ryokan with "Rotenburo" (Open-air bath)?

Planning a 1-night family trip to Yuzawa for New Year's. We are looking for a ryokan with a great Rotenburo (open-air bath) to relax. Any recommendations for a nice soak (maybe with a snow view)?

  • There are also rooms with open-air baths.

  • The large public bath is really spacious, but if you have small children, we recommend this hotel, which has rooms with open-air baths that you can enjoy with your family whenever you like. The meals are Buffet style, so you can enjoy a variety of flavors. The shuttle bus is not scheduled, but is convenient because it is tailored to your schedule.

  • A Yuzawa inn with many open-air baths

  • There are separate outdoor baths for men and women, and the baths are switched so you can enjoy the hot springs all day long. Meals are served Buffet style, with a luxurious menu of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes using seasonal ingredients from Echigo Yuzawa. The rooms are clean, and the standard rooms are spacious, so you can relax and unwind.

  • Open-air bath in the garden

  • The hot springs scattered in the lovely garden offer a wide variety of options, including a private open-air bath. In winter, you can enjoy the snow while bathing in the hot springs. They also offer cold sake and juice after the bath, which is nice. As it's a family-friendly venue, I recommend Buffet where you can eat whatever you like, but the rice from Uonuma is a must-try.

  • Located on a hilltop, you can enjoy a variety of baths.

  • This is a high-class inn located on a hilltop. There are various open-air baths and indoor baths within the facility, so you can enjoy bathing in different baths. The food was a Japanese kaiseki meal and was very delicious, and I think there was also a sake bar.

  • An inn where you can visit hot springs

  • Although it is an inn with a homely atmosphere, the baths are very substantial, with four open-air baths, two indoor baths, a cauldron bath, a sauna, a private bath, and an open-air bath attached to the guest room. The meals are delicious, with local mountain produce from Niigata, seafood directly delivered from the Sea of Japan, and rice cooked with authentic Koshihikari rice.

  • A hot spring inn located close to Echigo Yuzawa Station.

  • This hotel is easily accessible, within a 10-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Station. A shuttle service is also available. Parking is free, so we recommend coming by car. The hot spring has an indoor bath made of marble and an open-air bath made of rocks. The open-air bath is impressive, with the source spring flowing like a waterfall. Bathing while watching the snow is extremely pleasant. For meals, you can enjoy local ingredients such as sukiyaki made with local Uonuma vegetables and Echigo beef. The rice is Koshihikari from Uonuma. It is also conveniently located close to the ski resort.

  • Highly recommended for its ambience and location.

  • It's conveniently located within walking distance of Echigo Yuzawa Station, making it perfect for visiting the hot spring town and visiting the hot Visiting hot springs. It seems to have been renovated, and has a clean, modern Japanese atmosphere. The hot spring was a semi-open-air bath, and was a little warm, so I was able to take a long, relaxing bath. Dinner was a Japanese-based course, and breakfast was a Japanese Buffet. The tatami-floored interior was also comfortable and recommended.
