  • I want to travel to Fukuoka and Nagasaki this Golden Week! What hotels would you recommend?

My wife and I will be traveling to Fukuoka and Nagasaki during Golden Week (early-May holiday season in Japan). We plan to visit Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and Tenjin Shrine in Fukuoka, and Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki. We will be staying one night each in Fukuoka and Nagasaki. Are there any recommended hotels? We would prefer a cheaper hotel.

Hotel Lorelei

449 Haenosaki-cho, Sasebo-shi

  • This is a hotel with hot springs.

  • This hotel is located in front of JR Huis Ten Bosch Station. It is in an excellent location for going to Huis Ten Bosch, and has a restaurant and hot spring facilities on-site, which guests can stay at for free. The accommodation costs are quite reasonable, so it would be nice to relax here after sightseeing.

JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Hakata Central

2-2-11 Hakataekimae

  • A convenient hotel in front of Fukuoka Station with a delicious morning buffet

  • The morning buffet is delicious, and this hotel is conveniently located in front of Hakata Station. If you are going outside of Fukuoka Prefecture, Hakata Station is convenient. Even if you have a lot of luggage or it rains, you will hardly get wet because it is connected to the underground mall. From Hakata Station, Tenjin and Dazaifu are easily accessible by subway and bus, and the rooms are stylish, so I recommend it.

HOTEL WBF Grande Hakata

2-2-5, Hakataeki Minami, Hakata-ku

  • A hotel with a large public bath and easy access

  • I stayed here the other day. I was attracted by the fact that it was within walking distance (about 10 minutes) from Hakata Station and had a large public bath. It opened in August 2018, so it felt new. I stayed in a double room, which was small. I was alone, and the room was well equipped, so it wasn't too much of a problem, but if you're a married couple, I recommend a twin room or larger. There are rooms with open-air baths, and if you stay on the club floor, you can use the lounge on the top floor for free.

HOTEL ACTIVE! HAKATA

  • Active near Hakata Station!

  • If you are planning to travel by train, a hotel near Hakata Station would be convenient. We recommend "Hotel Active!", which is a 3-minute walk from Hakata Station. It is a chain hotel with multiple locations in the Fukuoka and Hiroshima areas, and is a good hotel in every respect, including the cleanliness of the rooms, the large public bath, the breakfast, and the location. Although it is a business hotel, the rooms are spacious and the hotel is designed efficiently, so it is sufficient for a trip that is mainly for sightseeing. The breakfast menu and content are also more substantial than you would expect for a business hotel. The interior and exterior of reception desk are modern and clean.
