Traveling from Tokyo to Hakone by Shinkansen. What hotels are recommended?
I want to go to the Hakone Open-Air Museum, which is said to be the first open-air museum in Japan. This is my first time going to Hakone. I'm planning to go by Shinkansen from Tokyo, but please tell me a good hotel or Ryokan (Japanese inn) to stay at after or before visiting the Hakone Open-Air Museum. It doesn't matter if it has a hot spring or not, but it would be nice if it had one.
7Hotel rankings chosen by people
- The location is within walking distance of Hakone Yumoto Station. It is a little independent guest cottages from the Hakone Open-Air Museum, but it is about 40 minutes by train or bus. This is Ryokan (Japanese inn) you can enjoy the great outdoors and hot springs of Hakone. We enjoyed the hot springs from our own source in the open-air bath in the sky and the various indoor baths. The open-air bath in particular was really spacious, and we felt close to the trees and could see the mountains and sky well, giving us a sense of openness and a sense of extraordinary. We also had a Japanese-style circular open-air bath and a Lying-down bath for lying down, where we could take a bath while looking at the night sky of Hakone. The vast garden was also very beautiful, and the shrine and the forest were integrated, creating a mysterious space. There was also a waterfall, and I felt like my body and mind were purified. There are various types of rooms, from standard twins to Japanese-style rooms and Japanese-style rooms with open-air baths.asas's answer (Posted on:2025/2/21)

Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a cloudy natural hot spring
- This is Ryokan (Japanese inn) with natural hot springs in Gora, Hakone. The hot spring here is cloudy and has good quality, and is also known as the "Bijin-no-yu (a hot spring of beauty)." I was able to enjoy the cloudy water at my leisure in the indoor bath and open-air bath, which have a calming Japanese atmosphere. There is also a foot bath and a private bath. I stayed in a Japanese-style room in the main building, which was quiet and relaxing. Being surrounded by the majestic nature of Hakone was refreshing. The food was also delicious, and I was able to enjoy both fresh seafood and mountain delicacies in the Japanese kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal ).静's answer (Posted on:2025/2/21)

A Breathtaking view location with a panoramic view of the hot springs and Hakone nature
- This hotel is located on a hill near Sounzan Station on the Hakone Tozan Cable Car. Its location with a Breathtaking view view of Hakone's nature is attractive. I thoroughly enjoyed the cloudy water from the Owakudani hot spring 100% natural hot spring. The open-air bath with its Japanese atmosphere and open feeling, and the large indoor bath, allowed me to relax in the hot springs while looking at the Hakone scenery. To get to the Hakone Open-Air Museum, you can take the cable car to Gora Station, and then take a train one stop from there, so it's convenient. There were tourist announcements on the cable car, which was fun.マチコ's answer (Posted on:2025/2/14)

- This is a popular Ryokan (Japanese inn) with an open-air cypress bath in every room. You can also enjoy the 100% natural hot spring from the source in the large bathtub, which is luxuriously full of Japanese atmosphere. The open-air bath surrounded by trees has a nice atmosphere, and since it is large, you can relax in it without worrying about the people around you. A stylish resort hotel in Gora, Hakone
- It is located right in front of Hakone Gora Park and is close to the Hakone Museum of Art, making it a convenient location for sightseeing in Hakone. Although it is a steep slope, you can walk to the Hakone Open-Air Museum. It is also one stop away from the nearest Gora Station. There is a large bath where you can enjoy the mixed springs from Owakudani and Sounzan. There is a corner in the facility where you can drink medicinal tea, which was very rare, but I enjoyed mixing it. The room was spacious and stylish, with a warm and relaxing feel. The banquet kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )was mainly Japanese food, with a large amount of variety, and was delicate and delicious in both appearance and taste. The Japanese breakfast was also luxurious, with a variety of dishes to enjoy from the morning.rianko's answer (Posted on:2025/2/14)
