  • SHIROYAMA HOTEL KAGOSHIMASA
  • Hotel recommendations for Sakurajima? (My 3rd trip to Japan!)

I'm planning my 3rd trip to Japan, and this time I'm thinking of exploring Kyushu. I'm particularly fascinated by Sakurajima and its active volcano. Could anyone recommend some good hotels? I'm looking for places either on Sakurajima island itself or in the nearby area with convenient access. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

SHIROYAMA HOTEL KAGOSHIMASA

41-1 Shinshoin-cho

  • An Onsen Hotel With a Breathtaking, Exclusive View of Sakurajima

  • If you're interested in Sakurajima, you should definitely check out the SHIROYAMA HOTEL kagoshima. The hotel is perched on a small hill called Shiroyama, giving you an exclusive panorama of Kagoshima city and the majestic Sakurajima. The absolute best part is the "Satsuma-no-yu" open-air onsen, where you can soak while gazing out at Sakurajima. You can savor the view in every season, from watching Sakurajima glow in the morning sunrise to seeing it set against the glittering city lights at night. Plus, it's super easy to get to the ferry terminal that takes you to Sakurajima island.

Richmond Hotel Kagoshima Kinseicho

5-3 Kinseicho

  • The Perfect Home Base for Exploring Kagoshima

  • If easy access to Sakurajima is a top priority for you, I'd suggest the Richmond Hotel Kagoshima Kinseicho. It's located in Tenmonkan, the heart of downtown Kagoshima, with a tram stop right out front. From there, it's just a short tram ride to the Sakurajima ferry terminal. The rooms are clean and super comfortable. Plus, if you get a room on one of the upper floors, you might even get a glimpse of Sakurajima from your window! My recommendation? Explore Sakurajima during the day, and then enjoy all the amazing local food and shopping around the hotel at night.

Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima

11 Chuo-cho

  • Perfect Location, Super Easy to Get Around

  • The Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Kagoshima is located directly above Kagoshima-Chuo Station, which means you can drop off your luggage literally moments after stepping through the ticket gates. The views from the rooms are incredible, too. When you book, be sure to request a "Sakurajima-view" room, and you'll be able to enjoy the majestic sight of Sakurajima from your window all day long. Plus, all the transportation options to the Sakurajima ferry terminal leave from right in front of the station. This hotel truly gives you the best of both worlds: ultimate convenience for getting around and a spectacular view right from your room.

Art Hotel Kagoshima

22-1 Kamoikeshinmachi

  • A Hotel with Fantastic, Up-Close Views of Sakurajima

  • The Art Hotel Kagoshima is in the bayside area, near the Sakurajima ferry terminal, and features a natural onsen with panoramic views of Sakurajima. Soaking in the onsen while gazing at the majestic Sakurajima is a truly luxurious experience. Getting to Sakurajima island takes about an hour. You just take a local bus to the ferry terminal and then hop on a ferry to the island. A huge plus is how easy the hotel is to get to. The airport limousine bus from Kagoshima Airport stops right in front of the hotel!

  • JR Kyushu Hotel Kagoshima is directly connected to Kagoshima Chuo Station, so if you're traveling by Shinkansen or train, you can leave your luggage and go sightseeing immediately after arriving. You can also easily get to the Sakurajima ferry terminal by tram or bus. The convenient and just-right rooms are also recommended for those who want to keep costs down.
