  • Wataya Bessou Hotel
  • If I'm planning to visit Arita ware or the Yoshinogari ruins, what are some recommended hotels in Saga Prefecture?

I'm planning to visit Saga Prefecture, where traditional Japanese crafts and ancient history live on. The delicate and beautiful Arita ware and the sprawling Yoshinogari ruins seem to be popular with foreign tourists, so I'd like to visit them. Could you please let me know about any recommended accommodations, including hotels you've stayed at and hotels with good access and service?

Wataya Bessou Hotel

738 Shimojuku-otsu, Ureshino-machi

  • A luxurious inn where you can relax in hot springs after touring Arita ware

  • If you're planning on mainly sightseeing in Arita ware, it's very convenient to stay in Ureshino Onsen, which is only about a 30-minute drive from Arita Town. This Ryokan (Japanese inn) sometimes uses Arita ware and local Hizen Yoshida ware for meals, allowing you to experience the charm of pottery even at the dinner table. It's an ideal base for a trip where you can enjoy sightseeing, hot springs, and the culture of Arita ware.

Ryokan Oomuraya

848, Shimojuku, Ureshino-machi, Ureshino-shi

  • Popular specialties made with local tea

  • At Ryokan (Japanese inn) Ryokan, we recommend trying their specialty, "Ocha Shabu." The pork served in a broth made with Ureshino's famous tea has a refreshing aroma and a special flavor. The hot springs are Ureshino no Yu, one of Japan's top three skin-beautifying hot springs, and are known for leaving skin moist and radiant.

  • An urban resort where you can experience architectural beauty and the extraordinary

  • Garden Terrace Saga Hotel was designed by someone who studied under the famous architect Kengo Kuma, and its modern design, which makes extensive use of wood, has won numerous architectural awards. There is also an outdoor heated pool that is lit up at night, giving you an extraordinary feeling as if you were in a resort overseas.

The Hamilton Ureshino

288-1 Iwayagawachi, Ureshinomachi, Ureshinoshi

  • A classic hotel perfect as a base for sightseeing in Saga

  • This hotel has a classic and calming atmosphere reminiscent of a British aristocrat's mansion. In the 2019 Michelin Guide, it received a rating of "4 Pavilions," indicating the highest level of comfort. The hot spring is Ureshino Onsen, one of Japan's three most beautiful skin-beautifying hot springs, and is characterized by its thick, lotion-like spring water. It is about a 30-minute drive to Arita and about an hour to the Yoshinogari ruins, making it an ideal base for sightseeing.

Hotel Ryutoen

120 Umeno, Yamato-cho, Saga-shi

  • Enjoy convenient access and Breathtaking view hot spring

  • Hotel Ryutouen is conveniently located about 20 minutes by car from the Yoshinogari ruins. The highway interchange is also nearby, making day trips to Arita a breeze. After enjoying sightseeing, you can enjoy the hot springs, which are known for their skin-beautifying properties, in an open-air bath surrounded by rocks. This is a recommended hotel where you can enjoy both a convenient location and highly effective hot springs.

宿坊 心月

佐賀県西松浦郡有田町本町丙799-1

  • A luxurious inn limited to three groups per day where you can fully enjoy Arita ware

  • Located an 8-minute walk from Arita Station, Shukubo Shinketsu is a luxurious inn that is limited to three groups per day. The most attractive point of the inn is that guests can enjoy exquisite cuisine prepared by a long-established ryotei (Japanese-style restaurant) using museum-quality Arita-yaki porcelain, such as Kakiemon porcelain created by a living national treasure. If you are interested in Arita-yaki porcelain, there is no better way to experience this special dining experience than with beautiful dishes and seasonal flavors.
