  • Toyoko Inn Takamatsu Hyogomachi
  • Any recommendations for affordable hotels for the Shikoku Pilgrimage?

My French friend is planning to do the Ohenro Pilgrimage next spring, and he's asked me for hotel advice. I've been doing some research, but I'd love to hear your suggestions! He's looking for budget-friendly accommodations that a man in his 60s would enjoy.

Toyoko Inn Takamatsu Hyogomachi

3-1, Hyogo-machi

  • It's a national chain hotel, so you can rest assured

  • If you are going on a pilgrimage around Shikoku, we recommend the Toyoko Inn Takamatsu Hyogomachi as your first accommodation. Toyoko Inn is a business hotel chain with branches all over the country, so once you learn the check-in procedure, it will work everywhere.

Toyoko Inn Matsuyama Ichiban-cho

1-10-8, Ichiban-cho

  • Perfect Location for the Shikoku Pilgrimage and Matsuyama Sightseeing

  • If you're looking for the perfect base for both the Shikoku Pilgrimage and exploring Matsuyama, Toyoko INN Matsuyama Ichibancho is in an unbeatable location. There's a streetcar station right in front of the hotel, giving you easy access to the famous Dogo Onsen and Matsuyama Castle. Of course, it's also convenient for reaching Ishite-ji (Temple 51 on the pilgrimage route). As a well-known hotel chain throughout Japan, you can count on the rooms being clean and comfortable.

Hotel Patio Dogo

DogoOnsen HonkanMae

  • Soothe Your Pilgrimage Weariness at Dogo Onsen

  • What's great about Hotel Patio Dogo is that you can soothe the weariness from your Shikoku Pilgrimage in the waters of Dogo Onsen, known as Japan's oldest hot spring. The hotel has its own large, communal hot spring bath, so you can enjoy the renowned waters without even stepping outside. Of course, the famous Dogo Onsen Main Building is also just a short walk away. The best part is that the hotel is within walking distance from Ishite-ji (Temple 51), so soaking in the onsen right after your temple visit is an incredible experience.

Business Hotel Rupinas

6-16, Nishinomaru-cho

  • Business hotel in front of JR Takamatsu Station

  • It is recommended as a post town in Sanuki where the Shikoku Pilgrimage ends. It is a business hotel in front of JR Takamatsu Station. It is located close to Takamatsu Port and the Takamatsu Castle ruins, making it ideal for sightseeing. Plans with breakfast, which you can choose between Japanese or Western food, are also cheap, starting from 5,000 yen. Even if you are staying without meals, you will not have any trouble finding food as it is close to the station.

Zentsuji Grand Hotel

8-8-5, Kamiyoshida

  • A hotel near Zentsuji Temple, perfect for pilgrimages and sightseeing

  • It's cheap at around 5,000 yen for a one-night stay without meals. There are izakayas, supermarkets, and home improvement stores around the hotel, so you won't have any trouble finding something to eat. It's also not that far from the station, a 15-minute walk from JR Zentsuji Station. It's close to Zentsuji, a 10-minute walk away. The next temple, Kinzoji, is about a 20-minute walk away, so it's a conveniently located hotel.
