  • Toyoko Inn Takamatsu Hyogomachi
  • Any recommendations for affordable hotels for the Shikoku Pilgrimage?

My French friend is planning to do the Ohenro Pilgrimage next spring, and he's asked me for hotel advice. I've been doing some research, but I'd love to hear your suggestions! He's looking for budget-friendly accommodations that a man in his 60s would enjoy.

  • Convenient and affordable chain hotel

  • It is the perfect place for a tour of Konpira Shrine, and can also be used as a base for udon tours. It is also suitable for business and shopping, so it can be used for many purposes. It is an 8-minute walk from JR Takamatsu Station, so it is easily accessible. The spacious rooms, designed in bright colors, have a very relaxing effect.

  • The Perfect Home Base for Your Shikoku Pilgrimage

  • Located in the heart of Takamatsu city, Toyoko INN Takamatsu Hyogo-machi offers fantastic access to JR Takamatsu Station and the ferry terminal. This makes it an incredibly convenient base for your trips to Yashima-ji (Temple 84) and Yakuri-ji (Temple 85). After a long day on the pilgrimage, you won't have to worry about where to eat, as there are plenty of great restaurants right around the hotel. And to top it off, the rooms are very comfortable.

  • Clean, Reliable, and Perfect for Longer Stays

  • I can confidently recommend the Toyoko INN chain, especially for visitors from abroad. As a famous hotel chain with locations all across Japan, you can always expect a clean, comfortable room and reliable service, no matter which one you stay at. It’s a huge plus to have that peace of mind, especially when you’re in a new place. The on-site coin laundry is also incredibly convenient for pilgrims on the Ohenro route who need to wash a few days' worth of clothes. Given that it's simple and functional, I'm sure your friend will be happy with it.

  • I don't know if the bed size will fit me, but the price is cheap.

  • Do you know Toyoko Inn? It is a business hotel chain with locations throughout Japan. In regional cities, they have plans starting from 4,000 yen. However, there is a problem. The height of the person you are traveling with. Their feet may hang over the Japanese-sized bed.

  • Business hotel with free breakfast

  • If you are going on a pilgrimage in Shikoku, you will be visiting all four prefectures. I recommend Toyoko Inn Takamatsu Hyogomachi. Toyoko Inn is a chain hotel and is located in three prefectures except Kochi. It is relatively cheap with free breakfast and you can stay there in the same way, so you can feel at ease.

  • If you're looking for the perfect base for both the Shikoku Pilgrimage and exploring Matsuyama, Toyoko INN Matsuyama Ichibancho is in an unbeatable location. There's a streetcar station right in front of the hotel, giving you easy access to the famous Dogo Onsen and Matsuyama Castle. • The Ideal Hub for Your Iyo (Ehime) Temple Pilgrimage

  • Toyoko INN Matsuyama Ichibancho serves as an incredibly convenient hub for touring the pilgrimage temples of Iyo (Ehime Prefecture). It’s perfect for visiting Ishite-ji (Temple 51) right in Matsuyama, and with easy access to both JR Matsuyama and Matsuyamashi stations, it's also a great launching point for reaching temples a bit further out. It's a fantastic perk that you can fuel up with the complimentary breakfast on days you have an early start. Plus, the on-site coin laundry means you can wash your pilgrimage clothes while staying for multiple nights.

  • Toyoko Inn hotels are cheap and can be found in most prefectures.

  • Hello. It was just the price. Private lodgings and guesthouses are cheaper and allow overseas guests to feel "Japan", but it's hard to choose. Toyoko Inns are in most prefectures and the room types are almost the same, so guests won't have to worry. Also, breakfast is included, so you can enjoy the breakfast that Japanese people normally eat.

Hotel Patio Dogo

DogoOnsen HonkanMae

  • Soothe Your Pilgrimage Weariness at Dogo Onsen

  • What's great about Hotel Patio Dogo is that you can soothe the weariness from your Shikoku Pilgrimage in the waters of Dogo Onsen, known as Japan's oldest hot spring. The hotel has its own large, communal hot spring bath, so you can enjoy the renowned waters without even stepping outside. Of course, the famous Dogo Onsen Main Building is also just a short walk away. The best part is that the hotel is within walking distance from Ishite-ji (Temple 51), so soaking in the onsen right after your temple visit is an incredible experience.

  • I stayed here after visiting Konpira-san. I highly recommend staying here if you are on a pilgrimage. The hotel is close to the main building of Dogo Onsen, so you can soak in the hot springs there to relieve your fatigue. The hotel is spacious and well-equipped. It includes a delicious Japanese breakfast and is recommended as it can be stayed for as little as 8,000 yen.

Zentsuji Grand Hotel

8-8-5, Kamiyoshida

  • A hotel near Zentsuji Temple, perfect for pilgrimages and sightseeing

  • It's cheap at around 5,000 yen for a one-night stay without meals. There are izakayas, supermarkets, and home improvement stores around the hotel, so you won't have any trouble finding something to eat. It's also not that far from the station, a 15-minute walk from JR Zentsuji Station. It's close to Zentsuji, a 10-minute walk away. The next temple, Kinzoji, is about a 20-minute walk away, so it's a conveniently located hotel.
