Any recommendations for affordable hotels for the Shikoku Pilgrimage?
My French friend is planning to do the Ohenro Pilgrimage next spring, and he's asked me for hotel advice. I've been doing some research, but I'd love to hear your suggestions! He's looking for budget-friendly accommodations that a man in his 60s would enjoy.

- If you're looking for the perfect base for both the Shikoku Pilgrimage and exploring Matsuyama, Toyoko INN Matsuyama Ichibancho is in an unbeatable location. There's a streetcar station right in front of the hotel, giving you easy access to the famous Dogo Onsen and Matsuyama Castle. Of course, it's also convenient for reaching Ishite-ji (Temple 51 on the pilgrimage route). As a well-known hotel chain throughout Japan, you can count on the rooms being clean and comfortable.モモンガ's answer (Posted on:2025/10/ 2)

The Ideal Hub for Your Iyo (Ehime) Temple Pilgrimage
- Toyoko INN Matsuyama Ichibancho serves as an incredibly convenient hub for touring the pilgrimage temples of Iyo (Ehime Prefecture). It’s perfect for visiting Ishite-ji (Temple 51) right in Matsuyama, and with easy access to both JR Matsuyama and Matsuyamashi stations, it's also a great launching point for reaching temples a bit further out. It's a fantastic perk that you can fuel up with the complimentary breakfast on days you have an early start. Plus, the on-site coin laundry means you can wash your pilgrimage clothes while staying for multiple nights.オコジョ's answer (Posted on:2025/10/ 2)

Toyoko Inn hotels are cheap and can be found in most prefectures.
- Hello. It was just the price. Private lodgings and guesthouses are cheaper and allow overseas guests to feel "Japan", but it's hard to choose. Toyoko Inns are in most prefectures and the room types are almost the same, so guests won't have to worry. Also, breakfast is included, so you can enjoy the breakfast that Japanese people normally eat.あぶ's answer (Posted on:2016/5/18)
