Recommendations for a clean inn in Nikko with a free-flowing onsen?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Nikko. We'd love to experience an authentic onsen and are specifically looking for a place with a gensen kakenagashi (a hot spring with free-flowing water direct from the source). We're hoping to find a reasonably priced inn or hotel. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

                    - For a trip with your boyfriend, I think Hotel Hanan, located right on the shores of Lake Chuzenji, would be perfect. Their outdoor bath (rotenburo) is a sulfur spring with water drawn from the famous Nikko Yumoto Onsen, and of course, it’s gensen kakenagashi (100% free-flowing from the source). You can gaze out at the stunning views of Lake Chuzenji while you soak, making for an incredibly romantic experience. What’s more, every single room has a lake view, so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery from both the bath and your room. It’s an amazing experience that offers incredible value for the price.わさび's answer (Posted on:2025/10/14)

A Chic, Modern Lakeside Inn Featuring Two Distinct Hot Springs
 - If you appreciate inns with a chic and serene atmosphere, might I suggest Hotel Hanan? It boasts a prime location right in front of Lake Chuzenji, and the interior is impeccably clean with a modern design. The outdoor bath (rotenburo) is a cloudy, free-flowing spring where you can also enjoy that classic, authentic sulfur aroma. One of its main draws—and a rarity in the Nikko area—is that you can experience two different types of hot springs: a sulfur spring and a simple alkaline spring. It's perfect for couples looking to spend some quiet, private time together while indulging in a touch of luxury.スバル's answer (Posted on:2025/10/14)

Beautiful and calm hotel
 - This is a beautiful and relaxing hotel located in Nikko Chuzenji. You can enjoy two types of hot springs (sulfur springs and alkaline springs). When you check in, you will be treated to a specially selected tea. For dinner, you can enjoy a dish featuring colorful vegetables.ユーザー's answer (Posted on:2014/6/ 4)
