I stayed here while touring Hakone's three major sacred places Hakone Shrine, Kuzuryu Shrine, and Hakone Motomiya. The room was a spacious Japanese-style room on the first floor, with a view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji. The view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Ashi from the open-air bath in the main building was so amazing that I wanted to stay in it forever. The indoor bath was also spacious and had a great view. However, the last bath in the main building is at 7pm, so I wanted to try using it after dinner. The indoor baths for guests can be used to relax in Takogawa Onsen until early in the morning or late at night.

There is an inn here in Nozawa Onsen that is rumored to have been the model for a certain anime, found in Ikaho, Shima, or Ginzan Onsen in Gunma. The retro feel that you don't get from the exterior, but as soon as you see the large bathhouse, which is said to have been built by a palace carpenter, you are drawn back to the world of Taisho Romance, as if you had traveled back in time.
