The great nature of Norikura Highlands
-
Norikura Highlands is also recommended as a summer resort because of its high altitude. This is a vacation village, so it's perfect for a family trip. You can enjoy the open-air bath while gazing at the trees during the day and the starry sky at night. The food is buffet style, but there is a wide variety, and it is full of delicious Shinshu flavors such as Shinshu salmon and beef steak, so it was very satisfying. You can also participate in activities that are unique to vacation villages.

It's all-inclusive so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about money.
-
This inn is all-inclusive, and there are no extra charges for coffee, beer after a bath, wine, or sake with meals. The hot springs are sulfurous and have a strong smell, but they are great, including the open-air bath. The meals are not luxurious, but you can enjoy nostalgic Japanese cuisine.

The room had no air conditioning.
-
I stayed at this inn in Iwate Prefecture in early July. There is an old building and a new building, and the old building where I stayed did not have air conditioning. I was worried about the heat, but it was cool at night. I think this is because the inn is located in the mountains and the building is along the river. All the other guests on the day I stayed there seemed to be staying in the new building, so it might be better to check whether there is air conditioning or not and stay in the new building. The large and small baths are alternated between men and women. The meal plan I had did not include meat dishes, so if you are interested, it would be better to choose the Iwate beef Shabu Shabu(Japanese hotpot)or steak plan.

A hotel in Zao Onsen perfect for a summer getaway
-
I recommend Zao Onsen in Yamagata Prefecture. The hotel here offers a half-buffet dinner plan with unlimited drinks, and the price is less than 20,000 yen. Elementary school students are half-price and infants are free. From the large public bath and open-air bath surrounded by greenery, you can enjoy the abundant hot water and the great outdoors of Zao. It is also perfect for summer vacation, and you can spend the whole day without air conditioning. This hotel is perfect for a summer vacation with the family.
