They offer a plan with no meals included, and it is relatively reasonable. It is a little outside the central area of Kurokawa Onsen, but if you are looking for value for money, it is worth staying at. Check-in time is a little early, so it is recommended if you are planning a relaxing trip at the inn.

If you're in Kurokawa Onsen, I recommend "Yumerindo." It's a purely Japanese-style Ryokan (Japanese inn) built along a mountain stream. There is a Japanese garden inside the inn, and we spent a relaxing time looking at the trees. After a rustic open-air bath that incorporates nature, we enjoyed a leisurely kaiseki meal in our room. In addition to the baths for men and women, there are also private baths for families and Mixed-Gender Hot Springs open-air baths, so we enjoyed all of the baths.

We chose the in-room dining plan for dinner. The Japanese banquet menu had so much to choose from that we couldn't finish it all, but everything was delicious. The menu used plenty of Kumamoto ingredients, such as salt-grilled sweetfish, tempura, local chicken, and Higo Ajisai beef. The room was spacious and had a view of the Japanese garden. There were various types of hot spring baths, all of which were very tasteful and nice. There is a large mixed Mixed-Gender Hot Springs open-air bath and a small private indoor bath, so the whole family can enjoy the hot springs together.

This long-established ryokan, founded 64 years ago, offers a truly authentic Japanese experience. The hallways and guest rooms are all traditional Japanese-style (washitsu), full of charming character. From my window, I could look out over the onsen town, which filled me with a wonderful sense of nostalgia. The onsen itself is located right beside a river, allowing for a long, relaxing soak while watching the water flow by. Strolling around the neighborhood in a yukata was also a wonderfully pleasant part of the stay.

Located further inland in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture, this inn offers a plan for a stay without meals. If you make a reservation in advance, they can also provide transportation to Kurokawa Onsen bus stop. There are spacious rooms that can accommodate up to four people, and you can stay for around 10,000 yen per person. The inn has a full range of hot spring facilities, including a mist sauna, a foot bath next to the entrance, and a rock sauna for women only.

They offer reasonable accommodation plans, and the hot springs are a luxurious experience with free-flowing water from the source. We recommend it because you can enjoy not only the large communal bath and open-air bath, but also the foot bath.
