Choyo Tei Hotel

As for winter events in Hokkaido, I recommend the "Ice Waterfall Festival" held from late January to early March in Sounkyo Onsen, Kamikawa Town. You can get to the festival by bus from JR Kamikawa Station. The snow and ice sculptures are lit up at night, creating a fantastical and beautiful sight. The fireworks are short, lasting about 5 minutes, but they were impressive. After the festival, you can warm up your cold body in Sounkyo Onsen. The inn here has an open-air bath in the sky and a large observation bath, and you can enjoy the natural beauty of the magnificent mountains while soaking in the hot springs.

The morning snow scenery at Sounkyo Choyotei was really beautiful. Icicles were hanging from the window of our room, and it was really fantastic and fascinating. The food was also delicious, and we were very satisfied with the dishes that used plenty of locally grown ingredients.

In winter, you can see the work of making the ice waterfall and the ice waterfall festival from above, which is very beautiful. Right now, they are still in the middle of making the frame, and they will soon pour water on it and freeze it. It's impressive to see the progress. The hotel staff are also working hard to provide hospitality.
