  • Ibusuki Seaside Hotel
  • Where are the best places for couples to stay in Ibusuki Onsen to experience a sand bath?

My partner and I are planning a trip to Ibusuki Onsen in Kagoshima Prefecture. Since we'll be making the trip, we would love to experience one of the famous sand baths. Could anyone please recommend an inn or hotel that has its own sand bath facilities on-site, or one that is located very close to a place where we can try one? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • The sand on my stomach is a bit heavy.

  • I stayed here for one night on a company recreational trip in 1994. It was a tight schedule of a two-day, one-night trip across southern Kyushu. When we arrived at the hotel by tour bus, it was already dark, but if you go before dusk, you can see the beautiful tropical sea. After the president and everyone else had a Japanese kaiseki meal in the large hall, I accompanied a senior employee and experienced the sand bath in the hotel. The three of us lay side by side on an iron construction shovel, and the hotel staff poured warm sand over us from above. Compared to the sauna, this one feels like you gradually get warmer. We also soaked in the large bath overlooking the night sea, and felt like our bodies were lighter. The miso soup with fish bone broth was especially delicious for dinner.
