Hida Takayama Onsen | I'd like to spend the New Year holidays at a hidden hot spring inn, so please recommend some!
I'm interested in Hida Takayama Onsen in Gifu because there are many hot spring inns, it has a nice atmosphere, and it looks like a fun place to sightseeing, so I'm considering it as a destination for my New Year's holiday. Rather than staying at a popular inn, I'd rather stay at a "good inn that's not well known." Are there any hidden hot spring inns? Please let me know what you recommend, such as a good inn that's cheap, or a good inn that's far from the station.

- I recommend "Murayama." It is a hidden hot spring inn in the countryside of Hida, so it is relatively easy to find a place to stay even during the New Year holidays. There is a wood stove, which gives it a charming atmosphere in winter, and because it is a purely Japanese-style building, there is a healing space where you can feel the warmth of the wood. The hot spring is an old-fashioned indoor bath, but the water is soft and keeps your body warm and comfortable. The water blends with your skin and makes it smooth. You can enjoy the river and mountain delicacies that are unique to Gifu Prefecture. The river fish grilled on a charcoal Japanese hearth is the best. You can enjoy it with sake. When you think of Gifu Prefecture, you think of Hida beef! They have steak and sukiyaki, but you will be surprised by the sweetness, flavor, and tenderness of Hida beef. It will satisfy both your mind and body. This is a great hidden hot spring inn for those who want delicious food and hot springs during the New Year holidays.温泉大好き夫婦's answer (Posted on:2023/12/26)

A purely Japanese style that evokes the atmosphere of good old Japan.
- "Asunaro" is a Japanese-style inn in Hida Takayama Onsen, which was relocated and restored from the mansion of a wealthy farmer from Echigo. Although it is in the city, it is a hidden gem where you can relax in peace and tranquility. There are only a few rooms, so it is also recommended for spending the New Year holidays relaxing. The inn is also proud of its seasonal cuisine, which uses plenty of local ingredients from Gifu Prefecture, including Hida beef, and from December to January you can enjoy the flavors unique to winter.ほっこり法師's answer (Posted on:2023/12/18)

Many rooms have open-air baths
-
This is a large Ryokan (Japanese inn) with many guest rooms, even among the Hida Takayama Onsen hotels. Many of the rooms have open-air baths, so it is recommended for those who want to stay in. There are various types of rooms and a wide variety of accommodation plans, so it is a hidden gem that suits everyone. The menu includes Shabu Shabu(Japanese hotpot)and steak, where you can fully enjoy Hida beef.おやき's answer (Posted on:2023/12/19)

A hidden gem of a hotel
- It's not well known, but it's a great inn. It's a hidden gem of a rural inn with 8 rooms, located in the middle of 49,000 square meters of nature at the foot of the Hida mountains. There's Japanese hearth and a waterwheel, so you can feel close to nature. It's independent guest cottages from the station, but if you make a reservation 7 days before your stay, there is a shuttle service from Takayama Station (West Exit/Hakusan Exit). You can also enjoy the hypotonic, weakly alkaline natural hot spring in a wild rock bath that makes use of huge stones from the Jomon period and a cypress bath. As for the food, you can eat a Japanese banquet using local seasonal ingredients such as high-quality Hida beef and fresh river fish that are unique to Hida Takayama.うまき's answer (Posted on:2023/12/17)

A quiet inn nestled in the Shin Hirayu Onsen area
- This is a small inn that sits quietly in the Shin Hirayu Onsen, surrounded by nature. It is small, with only seven rooms, so the warmth of the staff is palpable. The meals are homemade and can be enjoyed at your leisure in a private room. The Hida beef is tender, rich in flavor, and exquisite. We stayed in a 12.5 tatami room in the main building, and the view from the window was amazing, so we were able to relax. The rustic open-air bath in the large communal bath is also the best. There is nothing but nature around the inn, so it is very quiet. It is perfect for when you want to forget about the hustle and bustle.くまたんさん's answer (Posted on:2023/12/16)
