Ginzan Onsen - I want to stay at a hot spring inn after skiing! Can you recommend an inn with a nice open-air bath?
This year I'm planning to go skiing in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. I'd like to stay overnight at the nearby Ginzan Onsen, but are there any inns with nice open-air baths? I'd like to warm up my cold body slowly after skiing.

- We recommend "Ginzanso." The bath is connected to the open-air bath without leaving the indoor bath, so you don't have to worry about getting cold when moving between baths, even in winter. The open-air bath offers a beautiful view of the mountains, which will help you relax after skiing. You can also use the bedrock bath, which costs extra, so Ryokan (Japanese inn) can warm yourself up to the core.なち's answer (Posted on:2022/12/23)

A hot spring inn surrounded by mountains
-
Located in Ginzan Onsen, Yamagata Prefecture, this inn exudes history and elegance dating back to the Taisho era. Built on high ground, you can enjoy the hot springs in the open-air bath while taking in the beautiful scenery of the mountains in all four seasons. The homemade handmade soba noodles are made using buckwheat flour from the local Obanazawa area, and are a masterpiece that can be enjoyed "freshly ground, freshly made, and freshly boiled." You can also enjoy creative course meals and dishes made with local ingredients, which are sure to soothe your mind and body.たけやん's answer (Posted on:2024/5/18)

A retro and tasteful wooden building
-
If you're visiting Ginzan Onsen, I recommend the Kosekiya Annex. Located almost in the center of the hot spring town, the four-story wooden building is one of the most iconic structures in Ginzan Onsen. The tasteful guest rooms are on the river side facing the hot spring town, and on the mountain side, with two adjacent rooms, so they are spacious. For meals, you can enjoy local Yamagata flavors such as Yamagata beef steak and Yamagata potato stew. In addition to the two indoor baths with 100% natural hot spring, you can also use the open-air bath at the sister hotel, Ginzanso.Behind The Line's answer (Posted on:2020/5/ 6)

There are few rooms so it's quiet
- We recommend Ryokan (Japanese inn) "Fujiya," which has a fantastic atmosphere. The famous architect Kengo Kuma was in charge of renovating the hotel. The architectural beauty seen from the outside and the warmth of the wood that envelopes you when you step inside make it worth staying at least once. There are eight guest rooms in total. All baths are private, so you can enjoy a high level of privacy and a comfortable distance from other guests, which is also suitable for today's times. This is a recommended inn where you can enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath 24 hours a day.エイム's answer (Posted on:2021/1/ 1)
