Fujiya Hotel

359 Miyanoshita

  • The First Resort Hotel in Japan, Established in 1878!

  • I absolutely recommend the Fujiya Hotel in Miyanoshita, Hakone! Built in 1878 during Japan's Meiji period, this was the country's first-ever resort hotel, created to welcome international guests. It has hosted famous figures like Charlie Chaplin, Helen Keller, and John Lennon and his wife. The hotel has a unique architectural style that blends Japanese and Western elements, and it's considered one of the top classic hotels in Japan. What's more, you can enjoy a hot spring bath here. The hotel has a large public bath, but even better, all of the guest rooms have their own bathtubs fed directly by the Miyanoshita onsen source! So you can relax in a private hot spring bath right in your room. The hotel also has a museum that details its long history and a garden that recreates a traditional Japanese countryside landscape. This is a hotel you'll want to stay at for more than just one or two nights.

Kagoshima Sunamushionsen Ibusuki Hakusuikan

Higashikata 12126-12

  • An Edo-Period Hot Spring Theme Park with a Sand Bath!

  • There are countless places around the world to enjoy a hot spring, but very few where you can experience a sand bath! The hot spring at Ibusuki Hakusuikan is amazing. Not only does it have a bathhouse that recreates an Edo-period atmosphere, but there are also open-air baths and a stone sauna. Best of all, you can also try a sand bath right inside the hotel! You wear a yukata (a light cotton kimono) and get buried in warm sand, so it's a great option for people who might be shy about bathing naked. I highly recommend trying it at least once. The hotel grounds also feature the Satsuma Denshokan museum, which has been awarded a star in the Michelin Green Guide. It's truly fascinating! You can see incredible works of art and craftsmanship from Kagoshima and across Japan, all from the owner's personal collection.

Imperial Hotel Osaka

1-8-50 Tenmabashi Kita-ku

  • A Premium Hotel in Osaka

  • The Imperial Hotel Osaka is one of the most prestigious hotels in the city. It's super convenient to get to, with a shuttle bus running from Osaka Station and within walking distance of two different metro stations (Sakaisuji Line and Tanimachi Line). The hotel has a stately and calm atmosphere. The staff are polite and professional, and the views of the Okawa River and the Osaka city skyline are fantastic. The room service menu is also extensive and top-notch.

Hilton Osaka

8-8, Umeda 1-chome, Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan

  • A Hotel Right Next to Osaka Station

  • My favorite hotel is the Hilton Osaka. It's located in Osaka City and the access is incredible, as it's right near Osaka Station and the airport bus stop is right in front of the hotel. From the restaurant on an upper floor at night, you can see planes coming in for landing one after another, which really makes you realize how amazing Osaka is. The rooms are very spacious, relaxing, and clean. The breakfast was delicious and I was able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace. It was a truly wonderful experience.

Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay

1-8 Maihama, Urayasu-shi,Chiba

  • The Perfect Stay for a Tokyo Disneyland Trip

  • The Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay  in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture was a great choice. I stayed here because it's conveniently located near Tokyo Disneyland. I arrived at the hotel in the morning, parked my car, checked in at the front desk, dropped off my luggage, and then took the free shuttle bus to Disneyland. When I got to the room, I was surprised by how large it was. I thought it would just be a twin room, but they had added two extra beds, which was a nice surprise. The bathroom was also clean and spacious, and the amenities were excellent. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, especially the French toast, which my kids absolutely loved.

Hilton Niseko Village

Higashiyama Onsen

  • The Hilton in Niseko, Hokkaido

  • I had a great time at the  Hilton Niseko Village in Hokkaido. The Hilton brand has hotels all over the world, so you can expect a luxurious experience wherever you go. There are also several Hilton locations throughout Japan, which makes them a reliable choice. The hotel has a great selection of activities and the rooms are spacious, allowing you to relax and enjoy the magnificent natural scenery outside your window. It was the best!

Kinosaki Onsen Nishimuraya Honkan

469,Yushima,Kinosaki-cho,Toyooka-city

  • The Quintessential Japanese Ryokan with a Wonderful Traditional

  • Nishimuraya Honkan in Kinosaki Onsen is a historic ryokan with 165 years of tradition. While it has a long history, it's not old or outdated. The exterior has a traditional Japanese style, but the inside is very clean and well-maintained. From the tatami mat rooms, you can enjoy a view of a beautiful Japanese garden. The baths in the individual rooms are not hot springs (it's a rule in Kinosaki Onsen that only the public baths can use the hot spring water), but you can use the large public hot spring bath. You also get access to the private open-air baths at their sister property, Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei. I recommend visiting in the winter so you can try the premium "Tsuiyama crab!"

Arima Onsen Tocen Goshoboh

858 Arima, Kita-ku

  • A Historic Inn in Arima Onsen

  • This is the oldest inn in Arima Onsen, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, with roots tracing back to the Heian period. The meals are simple, but that's because they use the highest quality ingredients and prepare them carefully to highlight their natural flavors without excessive cooking. This focus on quality over flashiness extends to the guest rooms and the rest of the inn, creating a nostalgic and deeply relaxing atmosphere.

Tokachigawa Onsen Daiichi Hotel

12 Tokachigawa Onsen Minami, Otofuke-cho, Katou-gun

  • A Modern Japanese-Style Hotel in Tokachigawa Onsen

  • TheTokachigawa Onsen Daiichi Hotel in Hokkaido was a fantastic experience. The rooms are beautiful with a stylish, modern Japanese design that gives the hotel a resort-like feel. They have a variety of different baths to enjoy, including an open-air garden bath, a sauna, and a footbath terrace. The food was also delicious. Both dinner and breakfast were buffets, but the dinner menu was so extensive that I couldn't even try everything. They had Yubari melon, ice cream made on a marble slab, rice cooked in an iron pot, seafood, and so much more! In the early morning, you can even take a hot air balloon ride right by the riverbank next to the hotel. It's a hotel where you can have a truly fun and memorable time.

Sierra Resort Hakuba

14863-6 Hokujo, Kita Azumi

  • A Resort Hotel in Nagano Prefecture

  • This is a green resort hotel located in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture, surrounded by a vast forest of 30,000 tsubo (around 24.5 acres). I visited in the spring, and the sight of colorful tulips and other flowers was absolutely beautiful. The grounds are only accessible to hotel guests, so you can enjoy a peaceful and quiet time, taking leisurely walks and relaxing in the large onsen bath. It's a place that offers a lot of healing. The rooms are also very spacious, with windows that offer stunning views of nature. It felt like a scene from a movie and was a truly moving experience.

Kobe Portopia Hotel

10-1, 6 Chome, Minatojima Nakamachi, Chuo-ku

  • A Hotel in Kobe with an Ocean View

  • I highly recommend the Kobe Portopia Hotel in Hyogo Prefecture. Kobe has many great sightseeing spots, from the historic Kitano Ijinkan foreign residences to the numerous sweet shops in Sannomiya, and the scenic Port Island and Harborland with their ocean views. This hotel offers a free shuttle bus from Sannomiya Station, which I used myself. The service is also excellent; the staff are very kind and welcoming. On top of that, the night view of Kobe from the hotel room is simply spectacular.   r

  • A Resort Hotel in Okinawa

  • I'd have to say my top choice is  The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa. It's a luxury resort hotel with a great atmosphere. I love the relaxed vibe of the staff, which feels a little less overly formal than other places. It's a fantastic experience to simply relax on the balcony and gaze out at the golf course and the sea.

Ryokan Aura Tachibana

574 Yumoto, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun

  • An Inn with a Hot Spring in Hakone

  • I highly recommend Ryokan Aura Tachibana  in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. The hot spring is excellent! The water quality is apparently a simple alkaline hot spring, and it made my skin feel incredibly smooth. There are various types of baths, so it's fun to try them all. The food was also delicious and elaborate, showing the chef's dedication and skill. I also really liked the calm atmosphere of the dining room. You can choose between a Japanese-style room or a Western-style room, so you can pick whichever you prefer. And, of course, the service from the staff was absolutely perfect.

Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel

1-1-43 Abenosuji, Abeno-ku

  • The Hotel at the Top of Abeno Harukas in Osaka

  • This is the hotel located in the upper floors of Abeno Harukas in Osaka. Even the lobby and bathrooms are lined with glass walls, making it feel like you're in an observation deck. The rooms are beautiful, and you get a luxurious feeling just by being there. As a special perk for guests, I was able to go up to the Abeno Harukas observation deck for free in the morning before it opened to the public.

Arima Grand Hotel

1304-1, Arima-cho, Kita-ku

  • A Premier Hotel in Arima Onsen

  • This is one of the top luxury hotels in Arima Onsen, a high-end hot spring town in the Kansai region. The rooms are spacious, and the Japanese meals made with seasonal ingredients are just the right amount and feel very luxurious. The public bath, open-air bath, and sauna are all very large, and it's a magnificent experience to bathe while watching the sunrise. You can also get a panoramic view of the Arima townscape. This is a rare hotel that has both "Kinsen" (gold spring) and "Ginsen" (silver spring) waters, so you can enjoy both types of hot springs. If you mention that you are celebrating your 60th birthday (called "Kanreki" in Japan), you can receive various special services.

Sendai Akiu Onsen Sakan

Yakusi28, Akiumachiyumoto, Taihaku-ku

  • The Entire Hotel is a Museum and You Can Bathe in a Hot Spring!

  • Sakan is a hotel located in Akiu Onsen. This is a hot spring inn with ties to Date Masamune, who ruled over Sendai during the Edo period. Artworks from the Edo period are displayed everywhere, and in the gallery, you can even see the armor worn by the ancestors of Sakan, who were the official hot spring wardens for the Sendai domain. The meals are a half-buffet style, where you choose a main dish, and then drinks and a variety of other dishes are all-you-can-eat! You can even choose from several kinds of wine and sake. The open-air bath, where you can soak while looking out at the river and trees, is a very atmospheric and wonderful experience. They also hold events inside the hotel, making it a hot spring inn where you can have fun all day long!
