New Royal Hotel Shimanto

26 Nakamurakosho-machi, Shimanto-shi

  • There are many options for dinner

  • Since it is a business hotel, the accommodation fee is reasonable. The large public bath on the 4th floor has an indoor bath with hot spring water from Shinan-nami Onsen. The restaurant is open during dinner time, so you can include breakfast in the accommodation plan and order dinner separately at the restaurant. There are various menus for Japanese kaiseki and meat dishes.

  • A hotel located on the banks of the Shimanto River.

  • This hotel is located in the center of Shimanto City and has a hot spring. The rooms are basically Western-style, with beds instead of futons. The restaurant serves a buffet where you can enjoy the bounty of Buffet. The dishes include natural river eel, sweetfish from the clear streams, and abundant mountain produce.

  • This hot spring hotel is conveniently located for sightseeing along the Shimanto River, so we highly recommend it!

  • This hot onsen(hot spring) hotel is conveniently located for sightseeing along the Shimanto River. The most spectacular sightseeing spot on the Shimanto River is the sunken bridge. Other sightseeing options include a pleasure boat ride. This hot onsen(hot spring) hotel is unique in that it allows single occupancy. Single occupancy accommodations are rare, so finding one can be difficult. There's free parking, making it convenient and safe for those traveling by car. For dinner, you can enjoy a "local produce menu" of seafood dishes made with plenty of ingredients sourced from the Shimanto River. The kaiseki kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )like green laver in a clear soup and deep-fried river shrimp. There's also a large onsen(hot spring) bath, so you can relax and unwind.

  • A recommended accommodation in Shimanto, convenient for multiple nights

  • This is a reasonably priced inn in Shimanto that comes with a parking lot and also offers hot springs. There are plans for one night with two meals and plans for breakfast only, both of which are convenient for consecutive nights. I was able to relax in a modern and chic room. The hot spring is only available in the large communal bath, but you can enjoy it in a large bathtub in the spacious bathroom.

  • Recommended accommodations on the Shimanto River in Kochi Prefecture

  • This is a hidden hot spring inn located upstream of the pure Shimanto River. It is convenient for sightseeing in the area, such as fishing for sweetfish in the Shimanto River and firefly hunting. You can also enjoy the hot spring in the open-air bath and large bath, where you can enjoy the fresh bath to view the snow in winter. As for meals, you can eat kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )made with local ingredients such as Shimanto eel, Shimanto Japanese black beef, and Shimanto pork.

  • An open-air bath overlooking a tributary of Shimanto

  • How about Hotel Matsubagawa Onsen? It is about 35 minutes by bus from Kubokawa Station. From the open-air bath, you can see the valley of the Hinojigawa River, a tributary of the Shimanto River. The alkaline simple sulfur spring is effective against rheumatism and neurological diseases. For meals, you can enjoy Shimanto's Japanese banquet course, and the salt-grilled sweetfish roe is a must-try.

  • A hot spring inn nestled in a mountain village.

  • If you are visiting the Shimanto River, we recommend Matsubagawa Onsen. This hot spring inn is located in a mountain village, independent guest cottages from the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing you to spend a relaxing time surrounded by the mountains and valleys. There is also a deep open-air bath that gives you a sense of freedom. From there, you can enjoy views of the source of the Shimanto River, the Hinoji River, and the lush mountains. The guest rooms are a soothing space where you can hear the murmuring of the river.

Sansuien

1-3-35 Takajo-machi

  • Enjoy a reasonable hot spring trip in a single room

  • Sansuien is a hot spring Ryokan (Japanese inn), but it does have single rooms, which is unusual. Therefore, even solo travelers can stay here without wasting money. The large indoor bath is spacious and open, and the open-air bath was also very pleasant. The food was made with local Tosa delicacies and local sake. The single room had a fluffy futon and I was able to sleep comfortably. Although it was a Western-style room, a tea set typical of Ryokan (Japanese inn) was provided.

  • Located on a cliff, you can enjoy Breathtaking view of the Shimanto River.

  • If you are visiting Kochi Prefecture, why not try Yamamizuki? This inn is located near the mouth of the Shimanto River where it flows into the Pacific Ocean. As it is located on a cliff, you can enjoy Breathtaking view of the Shimanto River. Not only can you enjoy the majestic Shimanto River on a clear day, but you can also experience the most amazing moments when the sun rises over the horizon or when the river turns bright red at sunset. The view of the Shimanto River and the Pacific Ocean from the private baths and open-air baths with natural hot spring water is exceptional.
