  • Yuzawa Grand Hotel
  • Recommended accommodations in Echigo Yuzawa Onsen with open-air baths and meals

I'd like to go to Echigo Yuzawa Onsen with a friend in the spring and enjoy hot spring hopping and eating around. We both eat a lot, so we'd like to enjoy the food at the inn in addition to eating around. Can you recommend an inn with an open-air bath and meals included?

Yuzawa Grand Hotel

2494 Yuzawa, Yuzawa-machi, Minami Uonuma-gun Niigata

  • Recommended hotels for your trip to Echigo Yuzawa Onsen

  • Located in the center of Yuzawa Onsen town, it is highly recommended for its location, which makes it easy to visit the hot springs and eat your way around! It is also a 2-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Station, making it easily accessible. We enjoyed visiting the hot springs in independent guest cottages building, which is filled with garden atmosphere. There is also an open-air bath. For meals, we had a delicious Buffet made with carefully selected ingredients in the restaurant, which also has a live kitchen.

  • Recommended accommodations for spring hot spring tours

  • Located in Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture, it is easily accessible, just a two-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Station and five minutes from Yuzawa Interchange. The Buffet boasts freshly prepared dishes, with around 50 different Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes to enjoy. There is also a garden-style open-air bath that changes its appearance with the seasons. A morning bath bathed in the soft sunlight in the early morning, or a bath while gazing at the stars on a quiet night will refresh both body and mind.

  • A luxurious Buffet and hot spring baths in the hotel

  • Depending on the day of reservation, meals are either a Japanese banquet or Buffet. Both are very filling, but Buffet is definitely a better deal. Since it is a live kitchen, you can eat as much freshly cooked food as you like. Both the indoor and outdoor baths are spacious, so you can enjoy the feeling of visiting different baths.

Echigoyuzawa Onsen Shosenkaku Kagetsu Ryokan

318-5 Yuzawamachi

  • There are many baths with 100% natural hot spring

  • For dinner, you can enjoy a creative kaiseki meal made with seafood sashimi delivered directly from Niigata Port, Japanese beef, sticky pork, and seasonal vegetables. The sweet sake served at the end is also exceptionally delicious. In the morning, a special Japanese breakfast is served with many small dishes of local cuisine, and you won't be able to stop having second helpings of the freshly cooked koshihikari rice. There is a large public bath with free-flowing hot spring water, a garden bath, and a cypress bath, each of which has a large rock bath, two open-air baths, and an indoor bath. There is also a private bath with an indoor bath and an open-air bath, but this is available for a fee (1,000 yen for 45 minutes). The baths are open 24 hours a day. Water is not added or heated, but only the large indoor bath uses a circulator for hygienic reasons.

  • An inn written by a Nobel Prize-winning author

  • I stayed at the inn where Yasunari Kawabata wrote his novel "Snow Country" after learning that it still exists. The room where he wrote still exists and I was able to visit it. The temperature of the hot spring is 43° without any adjustment, which was a little hot for me. The open-air bath is only for women. Many of the dishes were made with ingredients from Niigata Prefecture, and there was river fish for sashimi.

  • There is an open-air bath where you can enjoy the mountain view.

  • I recommend this hotel, which is part of the popular Dormy Hotel chain. Dinner was a Japanese banquet with salt-grilled rosy seabass, and was very luxurious and delicious, with plenty of Japanese beef, local sake, and mountain village delicacies. There was also an open-air bath in the large communal bath and a private open-air bath, which was full of atmosphere and had a great view, so we enjoyed a refreshing and luxurious time.
