  • Toramaru Ryokan
  • Best Value Ryokans with Open-Air Baths in Kagawa's Konpira Onsen?

My family and I are planning a trip to Konpira Onsen in Kagawa this spring. We're looking for a ryokan with a great open-air bath that's a good value, ideally around 15,000 yen per person, per night. Any recommendations?

Toramaru Ryokan

1017 Kotohira-cho, Nakatado-gun

  • Taisho-era Charm and a Heartwarming Welcome

  • "Toramaru Ryokan" is housed in a building over 100 years old, dating back to the Taisho era. It’s an irresistible atmosphere for anyone who loves the "Showa-retro" vibe. While it is certainly old, it is beautifully maintained. The true charm of this place, however, is the staff, led by the proprietress (Okami-san). They are incredibly kind and genuinely welcome you like family. The large public bath, which draws water from the Konpira Onsen, has a wonderful, classic feel with its black marble bathtub. The access to Konpira-san is also excellent. This is an inn that truly warms your heart.

  • An inn with an excellent location closest to Konpira Shrine

  • If your main purpose is to visit Konpira Shrine, I highly recommend Toramaru Ryokan (Japanese inn). It's located halfway up the stone steps of the approach (92nd step) and is said to be the "closest inn to Konpira-san." The best thing about staying here is that you can start your visit with your family early in the morning when there are fewer people around. The building is a bit old and historic, but this makes for a very homey atmosphere. There is no luxurious open-air bath, but there is a large marble hot spring bath, so you can fully relax after your visit. Considering the location and value for money, this is a very satisfying inn.

  • Ryokan (Japanese inn) located right next to Mount Konpira

  • It's located right next to Mt. Konpira, so it's recommended if you're planning to visit Mt. Konpira. It's an inn that makes you feel like you're at Ryokan (Japanese inn), and the food is simply the best and delicious. The portions are a little on the larger side, so if you don't eat much, it might be even more reasonable to stay without meals.
