Headed to Akita to visit Oga Onsen. My main goal is the famous "Ishiyaki" (stone-grilled) cuisine. Also need a ryokan with "Gensen Kakenagashi" (100% source spring) baths. Recs?

Ogaonsen Yuinoyado Bettei Tsubaki

81 Nakazato, KitauraYumoto, Oga-city

  • The restaurant offers dynamic stone-grilled dishes.

  • This inn is the closest to the sea in the Oga hot spring resort area. There is an indoor bath with free-flowing hot-spring water and an open-air bath with a view of the sea of Oga. The meals are prepared by boiling the ingredients in a tub, then cooking them on a stone heated to 400 degrees Celsius.

  • You can enjoy dynamic Japanese Ishiyaki cuisine.

  • If you are heading to this inn by train, you can use the transportation service from JR Oga Station. It is close to the sea, so the view from the room is nice. For meals, you can enjoy Oga's specialty, Ishiyaki cuisine. When you put the red-hot stone into the tub, it boils violently. It is quite dynamic.

Oga Kanko Hotel

13-1 Kusakihara, Kitaura-yumoto, Oga

  • A hotel with onsen(hot spring) where you can enjoy stone-grilled cuisine and free-flowing hot spring water

  • How about a stay at Oga Kanko Hotel? Here, you can enjoy their famous stone-grilled cuisine, where fresh seafood is cooked in a miso-based broth on heated stones right before your eyes. You can also enjoy seasonal dishes such as crab and local brand beef along with your stone-grilled cuisine. From the large observation bath on the top floor (8th floor), you can soak in 100% natural hot spring waters of Oga onsen(hot spring) while watching the sun set over the Sea of Japan.
