  • Kyoto Tower Hotel
  • I'm going to Kyoto on a solo trip this summer. Can you recommend a place to stay where I can see the Gozan no Okuribi from my room?

I'm planning to go to Kyoto alone in the summer to see the Gozan no Okuribi fires. I'm looking for a hotel where I can see the fires from my room. Do you have any recommendations?

Kyoto Tower Hotel

721-1,Higashi-Shiokouji,Karasuma-dori,Shimogyo-ku

  • A hotel with a view of the Gozan no Okuribi bonfires

  • I recommend Kyoto Tower Hotel. There are events where you can rent out the observation deck at 100m above ground, the highest point in Kyoto city, and enjoy all the Gozan no Okuribi bonfires, so I think it would be a good idea to participate in those events. It's in front of the station, so it's convenient to go anywhere.

Natural Hot Spring Super Hotel Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi

538-1 Nakano cho, Shijo agaru, Nakagyo-ku

  • Maybe it's because you can see Kyoto no Okuribi fires from your hotel room.

  • It's about 150 meters on foot from Hankyu Shijo Kawaramachi Station, so it's very accessible. You can barely see the Gozan no Okuribi fires from the upper floors.

APA Hotel Kyoto-Gion Excellent

555 Minamigawa, Gionmachi, Higashiyama-ku

  • APA Hotels with accommodation plans for viewing the Gozan no Okuribi bonfire

  • This APA Hotel is conveniently located about a 4-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station. It is popular because they offer a stay package for viewing the Gozan no Okuribi every year. It feels a little old compared to other APA hotels, but even if you discount that, the benefits of being able to enjoy the bonfires outweigh the negative aspects. Get a good deal, have a drink, and enjoy the view.

Hotel Monterey Kyoto

604 Manjuya-cho Sanjo-Sagaru, Karasuma-dori, Nakagyo-ku

  • A hotel with easy access to downtown Kyoto near Karasuma Station

  • It is conveniently located in Karasuma Sanjo in the center of Kyoto, just a 2-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station. The British-style interior ignores the traditional Kyoto atmosphere, but Hotel Monterey Kyoto is a calm and elegant hotel. Another attractive feature is that the accommodation fee is reasonable for a high-class hotel. There is also a natural hot spring spa on the top floor. There is a plan that allows you to view the Gozan no Okuribi fires from the top floor.

KKR Kyoto Kuniso

Kamigyo-ku Higashi Sakuramachi 27-3

  • Hotel with open-air bath near Kyoto Imperial Palace

  • The Daimonji Yaki bonfire can be difficult to see from the rooms, but guests can get a clear view from the rooftop terrace. The standard single rooms are simple yet clean. There is a large communal bath here, as well as an open-air rock bath, so you can enjoy a relaxing time in the hot springs. Although it is a public lodging, the garden is magnificent and it is a very nice lodging. The surrounding area is close to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, making it a great location for sightseeing.

Chishakuin Kaikan

964 Higashi-kawaramachi, Higashi-oji Nanajo-sagaru, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi

  • Shukubo near Kyoto Station that is also recommended as a base for sightseeing

  • It's great to experience the Gozan no Okuribi while staying at Shukubo lodging. Chishakuin Kaikan is conveniently located near Kyoto Station, making it an excellent base for sightseeing. The rooms are very clean and have a variety of types, including Western-style rooms, Japanese-style rooms, and Western-style and Japanese-style rooms, so it's like a hotel. You can also experience the morning service, making it an unforgettable trip to Kyoto. It's important to make a reservation early.
