"Kagoshima Sunamushionsen Ibusuki Hakusuikan" Reviews & Details
"Kagoshima Sunamushionsen Ibusuki HakusuikanReviews about "
- There are countless places around the world to enjoy a hot spring, but very few where you can experience a sand bath! The hot spring at Ibusuki Hakusuikan is amazing. Not only does it have a bathhouse that recreates an Edo-period atmosphere, but there are also open-air baths and a stone sauna. Best of all, you can also try a sand bath right inside the hotel! You wear a yukata (a light cotton kimono) and get buried in warm sand, so it's a great option for people who might be shy about bathing naked. I highly recommend trying it at least once.
The hotel grounds also feature the Satsuma Denshokan museum, which has been awarded a star in the Michelin Green Guide. It's truly fascinating! You can see incredible works of art and craftsmanship from Kagoshima and across Japan, all from the owner's personal collection.

You can enjoy both a sand bath and a hot water bath.
- Here you can fully enjoy the sand bath, a specialty of Ibusuki Onsen. There is also a bathhouse that recreates a large bathhouse from the Edo and Genroku periods in Japan. The bathhouse is as large as a pool, so you can enjoy bathing in a spacious space.

A stylish and relaxed hotel.
- There is a pool with a tropical atmosphere that reminds you of the south. The wooden deck and jacuzzi are sure to be instagrammable. The atmosphere of the cafe space was also nice. The Genroku bath, which reproduces the history of the Edo period, is quite spacious. You can also use the sand bath in the building. The room was spacious and had a nice view.

A Fantastic Hotel with a Sand Bath Experience!
- The famous Ibusuki sand bath is a unique experience you won't find just anywhere—it's so warm and comfortable that you'll find yourself dozing off! It has an incredible detox effect. While the open-air bath with its amazing view is great, the "Genroku-buro" bath was also fantastic; it's very spacious and has a really interesting design. For dinner, you get to choose between Japanese and Italian food. We opted to dine in our room, which was perfect for enjoying a slow, relaxing meal.

The pick-up service is limited to JR Ibusuki Station.
- It is about 50 km independent guest cottages from Kagoshima Chuo Station, so it may be difficult to arrange a shuttle service. It takes about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes by train from JR Ibusuki Station to Kagoshima Chuo Station, and there is one train per hour, so I recommend calculating the time backwards before making your reservation. Ibusuki Hakusuikan offers a free shuttle service from Ibusuki Station.

I think the satisfaction rate is 100%.
- When it comes to sand baths, Ibusuki Onsen in the southern part of the Satsuma Peninsula is the most famous. There are many Ryokan (Japanese inn) and hotels scattered around Ibusuki Onsen, but I think Hakusuikan is in a class of its own among them. It is located at the foot of Mt. Uomi, overlooking Kinko Bay, and there is also an art museum on the premises. What makes it stand out above all else is the many elaborately designed baths, and the delicious food is sure to satisfy you.

There is a lot to enjoy around the inn
- I'm a local. This inn has a sand bath, free shochu tasting, and a Genroku bath, which are fun for both adults and children. If you have the time and transportation, I recommend the sand Sunamushi Onsen (Steam Sand Bath) at Yamakawa Fushimi Beach, which is a truly natural hot spring that has been around for a long time. If you go a little further, you can also visit Japan's only tourist seahorse farm, the Seahorse House, and Kamafuta Shrine, which are also interesting.

- The rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly, so the whole family was very satisfied. The pool was open until late, so my kids who love pools were very happy. We sweated in the sand bath and enjoyed the delicious Buffet. The hot spring was open from early in the morning until late at night, and we were very excited about the large bath. I hope we can use it again.

- I recommend Ibusuki Hakusuikan. It is about 2km from Nigatsuda Station on the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line. It is a 7-minute taxi ride from the station. It is a Japanese-style Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a natural sand bath. Due to its location, you cannot see Sakurajima, but if it is clear, you can see the starry sky from the open-air bath.
