  • My Recommendation

  • The Kinugawa Onsen Hotel is great. I think it's one of the best hot springs in the Kanto region, and the spring quality is excellent. Kinugawa, surrounded by nature, will help you relieve your daily fatigue. You can get there from Tokyo by train without having to transfer, and you don't need to rent a car there.

  • Kinugawa Onsen and recommended accommodations for New Year's visits

  • It is easily accessible from Tokyo by car in about 2 hours, so it is a recommended hotel for first shrine visits of the year. A couple plan is also available, so it is recommended for married couple. You can refresh your daily fatigue in the hot springs. For first shrine visits of the year, we recommend Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Nikko, and Nikko Futarasan Shrine, which are about 30 minutes away by car.

  • Popular Kinugawa hotels near Tokyo

  • It's about 2 hours from Tokyo, and they offer a kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )plan. Kinugawa Onsen has good water quality, and the hotel has two types of baths, one made of wood and one made of stone, which have different atmospheres and we enjoyed both. There are also two types of private baths, an indoor bath and an open-air bath. We stayed in a standard Japanese-style room, which was spacious and had a wide veranda where you could relax and enjoy the view of the Kinugawa mountains.

  • Hotels in Kinugawa Onsen where you can dine in a private room

  • Kinugawa Onsen in Tochigi Prefecture has many inns where you can enjoy hot springs and meals, and it is convenient to get there from Tokyo by express train. At this hotel, we had a kaiseki kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )in a private room, with a hot pot made with local ingredients as the main dish. The hot spring was also relaxing, with a large wooden bath. There are also two private open-air baths with different atmospheres. The budget is around 30,000 yen for one night with two meals, so I think it is a good value trip.
