From the open-air bath, you can see the natural rock surfaces and the fresh greenery of the trees - it's a truly Breathtaking view! The milky white free-flowing sulfur spring is rare even in Japan, so it will be a valuable experience. There are also three barrier-free private baths, although this will incur a fee. The food is kaiseki（a traditional Japanese multiple course meal ）, and all the meals made with local ingredients such as Yamagata beef are very filling. This is a recommended hotel where you will be very satisfied with the Zao scenery and the plentiful, high-quality hot spring water.

• The standard Japanese dinner banquet includes a set of Yamagata beef and seafood teppanyaki for two, so you can share it. There are two large baths, one is the "Hanareyu Hyakuhachiho" which is a natural sulfur spring located in front of the hotel, and the other is the "independent guest cottages no Yu" which is a weak alkaline mineral spring located inside the hotel, although it is not a hot spring. The indoor bath of the "independent guest cottages" is made of wood and has a nice atmosphere, while the open-air bath is made of stone and you can soak in the water while looking out at the majestic Zao mountain range. This hot spring is open until 11pm, so if you like sulfur springs, make sure you get there in time. Both the indoor and open-air baths of Shirakami no Yu are open 24 hours a day, so you can soak whenever you like. You can soak in the water while looking out at the panoramic view of Zao's nature from both the indoor and open-air baths, and there is also a sauna, but it is open until 9pm, so if you want to go in, go early!

The hot spring is one of the most famous hot springs in Japan, and the water is a sulfur spring, which is famous for its soft water and skin-beautifying properties. You can enjoy the hot spring to your heart's content at this traditional, long-established Ryokan (Japanese inn). In addition, the open-air stone baths "Seseragi no Yu" and "Open-air Zao Stone Bath" and the private bath "Kibi Taga Yu" offer hot springs of the inn's own hot spring source, which are strongly acidic and contain hydrogen sulfide, and are flowing directly from the source. As for meals, they serve a gorgeous banquet meal using seasonal ingredients, with Zao beef sirloin grilled on a ceramic platter as the main dish. The homemade smoked trout grilled with coriander and lily root manju are particularly delicious.

The open-air bath from which you can look out at the starry sky can be rented for private use, so it is also recommended for married couple. The inn is also known for its delicious cuisine, which uses plenty of local Tohoku products and ingredients unique to Yamagata Prefecture. For dinner, you can enjoy plenty of Yamagata beef and home-grown vegetables. Even the accommodation plan with meals included is relatively reasonable, and you can fully enjoy Yamagata and Zao in early summer.

• Zao Plaza Hotel is about an 8-minute walk from Zao Onsen Bus Terminal Station. The bath is a free-flowing bath with a private hot spring source, and you can see a wonderful garden from the open-air bath. However, if the hot water gets into your eyes, it will hurt for a while, so be careful. For meals, you can also enjoy ball konnyaku and beef teppanyaki.
