  • Nozawa Onsen Hotel
  • A lodging in Nozawa Onsen where you can enjoy an open-air bath amidst a snowy landscape

I'm thinking of going to Nozawa Onsen to experience the surreal world. Since I'm going there, I want to enjoy the snowy scenery, so if there are any recommended inns with outdoor baths, please let me know!

Nozawa Onsen Hotel

7923-3 Toyosato, Nozawa Onsen-mura, Shimotakai-gun

  • Hotels that own hot springs

  • There are three open-air baths with natural hot spring water from which you can enjoy snow views. I stayed in a 10-tatami Japanese-style room, which was spacious and relaxing. It also had a sink and toilet, which was convenient. From the rooms on the second floor or higher, you can see the flow of people passing by in the hot spring town. There are also rooms with open-air baths.

Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Grand Hotel

8888 Toyosato, Nozawa-Onsenmura, Shimotakai-gun

  • An open-air bath overlooking Nozawa Onsen town

  • Nozawa Grand Hotel is easily accessible, with a direct bus from Iiyama Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line. The hotel has a large public bath with 100% natural hot spring and an open-air bath overlooking the Nozawa Onsen town, where you can enjoy the snowy scenery in winter. Guest rooms are available in Japanese-style, Japanese and Western room, and Western-style, all of which are bright and clean. Some rooms also have an open-air bath. For dinner, we had a traditional kaiseki kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )made with plenty of locally produced seasonal ingredients, including Shinshu premium beef, trout, wild vegetables, mushrooms, and Nozawana.

Nozawa Onsen Ryokan Sakaya

9329, Toyosato, Nozawaonsen-mura Shimotakai-Gun

  • A tasteful large communal bath and open-air bath

  • The open-air stone bath was very tasteful. The large bath, wrapped in the warmth of wood, was also wonderful and filled with the atmosphere of a hot spring. There was also a sauna and a cold bath. I was satisfied with just the hot spring at this inn, even without touring soto-yu (public bathhouses). The ski slopes could be seen from the room, and the view was great. For dinner, there was a lot of Shinshu mountain produce. Breakfast was also Japanese, and I could choose between regular rice and "tororo rice", and I chose "tororo rice". I was satisfied with the variety of dishes that were served, including dried river fish, wild vegetables, and Nozawana.

Toyosato 8713,Nozawa Onsen

  • An inn that retains the hot spring atmosphere of the Meiji and Taisho eras

  • The hot spring is free-flowing from the source, and the bathtub has a retro feel. You can enjoy bath to view the snow in the open-air bath. You can bathe in the two bathtubs at any time during your stay, except during cleaning times. This inn is also famous for its outdoor Visiting hot springs, so while there are not many inns with open-air baths, the hot spring at this inn is of good quality and highly recommended.
