  • I want to stay at Ginzan Onsen, the setting for the TV drama "Oshin"

Chugoku friend saw the old TV drama "Oshin" and wants to stay at Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Ginzan Onsen, where the drama was set. Can you recommend some famous Ryokan (Japanese inn) that are recommended for beginners, or popular Ryokan (Japanese inn) that are only known to a few people? I would prefer Ryokan (Japanese inn) that offers meals such as Japanese food.

Fujiya Inn

443 Shinpata, Ginzan, Obanazawa-shi

  • You can use the private bath with friends.

  • All of the baths at this inn are private, making it the perfect hot spring inn for beginners. The five different types of baths are available 24 hours a day, so you don't have to rearrange your travel schedule to take a bath, which is convenient. Ginzan Onsen is most spectacular at night when the lights are on, so it's a town you should explore without worrying about the time. All of the guest rooms face the Ginzan River, so you can enjoy a view of the hot spring town from your room. While many inns have different views and grades depending on the room, this is a nice point that doesn't depend on that.

  • A minimalist and sophisticated Japanese modern inn

  • Both the exterior and interior are very beautiful, and the inn has an extraordinary feel. The famous Japanese architect Kengo Kuma was involved in the design. Although it has a very modern impression, the background behind the renovation of this nearly 100-year-old Ryokan (Japanese inn) is also interesting, as it reuses usable wood. Bamboo, stained glass, washi paper... I think the main attraction is the conceptual architecture, which is rarely seen in other inns.

  • There are five private baths so you can enjoy the hot springs while keeping your privacy in mind!

  • There are five baths, all of which are private. You can use them at any time 24 hours a day. Even if you're not a big fan of hot springs, you can use them with peace of mind since they are private. The food is Japanese kaiseki cuisine, mainly made with local ingredients, and seafood from the mountains and seas throughout the Tohoku region. You can enjoy delicious food that lives up to the concept of "out of the ordinary." English support is also available, so even foreigners who don't understand Japanese can use them with peace of mind.
